I'll be in NY this weekend and I'm heading to Tannen's to grab some of their exclusive items, Ted K. lecture notes, LIFT and a couple of the ParaLab items but I having trouble deciding what to get in regards to the ParLab line.
I own the Beyond ESP2 cards and I use those whenever I perform ESP card effects so I'm hesitant in getting theirs but I read so many good things about them. If I decided to get them, should I just get the cards or the set (with the book)? I currently don't have a portable ID (I just have Biss' IMB which I don't use anymore) so the ParaPad is a strong consideration. But whenever I do a DD, I usually do a bi**et p**k or use ODDS. The Depicting Thoughts Set looks really interesting and I've read great things about it, but I'm not sure what the difference is between the DTS and the Marked Picture stack. Ugh... even typing this makes my head hurt... So any advice to help my decision would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Allan |

Hi Allan...you can't go wrong with any of their products...
The Depicting Thoughts Set gets my highest recommendation...they're simply fabulous. I changed over from the Beyond ESP cards to the Paralabs set and couldn't be happier with them plus you'll be buying from 2 of the nicest guys in the business. As I said whichever way you go,i can guarantee you'll be rapt Have a terrific time in NY buddy Best wishes..Stevie |

Thanks Stevie. Do you just have the ESP cards or did you get the book of effects as well? I know their ESP cards are not standard sized cards so I'm curious if they can be used in other effects that require sleights.
As for the DTS, could you PM me on some of the ideas behind them (not methods, just types of effects). Cheers, Allan |

Hi Tardoid7,
The original PictureStack was not marked. None of the effects in the book that is part of the Depicting Thoughts set are reliant on marked cards. However the PLF have now produced an ingeniously marked set extending the products uses still further. Anthony

The ParaPad is the best ID I own. I use it all the time. Wonderful. The ESP cards? Also wonderful. State of the art...brilliant products both.

I've only read the first part of the DTS book so far, I want to get it down first before I continue reading it. This was well thought through and after just 30min, I know up to number 40 so far without looking (except 38... I always miss that one ) Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! Cheers, Allan |

For obvious reasons I refrained from this conversation, ...
... but whenever you need advice, Allan, feel free to drop Rainer (mees@paralabs.org) or me (heine@paralabs.org) a line. Cheers Th. |

I just wanted to say that the Depicting Thoughts set is pure gold, the information you're given in the 2 booklets and the 1 huge book is amazing; I have to admit I was just seeing the tip of the iceberg as to what could be done with this kit. Their attention to detail is something rarely seen in Mentalism; do get this!

I also use billets and the ODDS more than anything but it's nice to have the ParaPad ready for challenging situations. I've been happy with my BEYONDESP2 and 3 cards so I never bought the ones from ParaLabs. The book might be the real value for someone who has nice cards already. As for the picture cards, they're lovely. I say take along enough cash to buy everything you asked about in the OP. Great products from exceptional guys who do their work wholeheartedly. If you can't afford everything at once, flip a coin and all will come out right. It's quality stuff so worth the risk, plus it has a high resale value in case you decide not to use it. Let me know if you decide to sell any of it.
