I guess I still love the best just changing a silk from one color to another or the half dyed silk routine. A dye tube can be a miracle in the right hands.

It's nice that everybody has his own different favorite silk effect. All of these are good.

I'm really enjoying watching Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki perform his "Mis-made Frosty" silk, which is a variation of his "Mis-made Jack" described in The Wizards' Journal #21. We just made the same trick with new silk faces, but it looks more like a Blendo than the usual mismade silk routines. He just gathers up the silks and gives them a shake and they blend together into the next face- from a black and white outline to a colored face, to a mis-made face, and finally to the straightened out face. Fortunately, he can use his Frosty silks through the rest of the winter, but I have a feeling he will be bugging me to help him dye silks for a Mismade Easter Bunny in the spring.

For me it's the Dancing Hanky. One of the most beautiful effects in my eyes, though I can't do it.

For me, it is probably the three I do most often:
Silk to Egg Color Changing Wreaths variations of 20th Century Silks
The magic is not in our sleights and illusions, but instead in our ability to bring love and joy.

There are a ton of great silk effects and everyone mentioned here so far is a good one.
For me though, my favourite is pulling a boatload of silks out of a square circle and filling the stage. Streamers, individual silks, 6' silks, line of silk flags and on and on with a message silk at the bottom. |

For myself I'd pick Snap-a-Silk and Silk through Glass, which I always do together and Fountain of Silks. I can't choose one.
I love to watch my partner Tom do Waltzing Matilda, totally hilarious. -Mary Mowder |

I find it interesting out of the thousands of Silk Magic tricks on the market and in books, only a few are being used. Very sad state of affairs in the magic community. In the Rice Encyclopedia alone there is enough great magic silk tricks to never have to buy a trick again in a single lifetime. And silk magic is the premier pack small and play big props for 2 centuries now.
I do realize that most silk magic does require more preparation time over a lot of other tricks. I also vote for the mechanical Blendo effect by Rice, but there are other ways to perform a blendo, my 1st blendo was with the Crystal Silk Cylinder. Also I see hundreds of post for the Square Circle production tubes, but no one mentions that at all. Probably the most used silk trick today is the Vanishing Silk with a TT, but there are others as well using different type of silk gimmicks. Another great silk trick is Sympathetic Silks, no one seems to do it today, so it is really something new and can play great with spectators or without. Another of my Favorite silk tricks is the Al Baker Color Changing Silks using a paper tube, and a dye tube. Mine was from Abbott's and I think they call it E-Z Dyeing Silks. Great silk magic! |

My favorite are (in no particular order): Duke's Dye Version, Blendo Full of Holes (Pavel..... it combines Kots off Silk with a Blendo effect), Flagtastick, Quick Set Blendo (different name variations), Silk to Egg, THIS (Improved), Line of Silks Production, Silk Fountain, Changeable Handkerchief Deluxe (UGM), and Newspaper Knotting (Pavel, but I prefer using a streamer sometimes).
