...Came and went....perfectly. My first paid gig was a total success. I was supposed to work from 12-5 for $50, but ended up coming out only working from about 1-4 for $77 (75 for real, 2 dollar tip).

It was really, really fun too. I really enjoyed myself. I got to meet a bunch of new people. I obviously also impressed a bunch of people.

It was basically set up this entire "festival" along a huge, huge street. There were all kinds of entertainment such as jugglers, balloon makers, artists, carriage rides and Santa. I was supposed to walk around the Santa line and a few kids shops, such as a toy store and book store.

Anyways, I think that this gig had the largest amount of people that I performed for. I was doing walk-around/close-up the whole time. I also got to perform for Santa himself (he seemed to enjoy it by the way)!

I was also surprised at how some of the kids asked me when/how I got into magic. In fact, one kid who was watching me off to the side on one trick followed me out of the store just to ask me and watch another, personal trick. I just told them that I started when I was 14, but anybody can start any time thy want. I wonder if the Toy Store's magic sales went up today because of me (they sold some Fantasma kits).

This was also basically the first time that I have been "rejected" by more than a few people. There were a lot of busy people there, so I learned to deal with it. But I still enjoyed myself.

Anyways, this was a really good experience for me and I hope to have many more like it!

Funny story from this gig:

During my sponge ball routine, I show two sponges, put them in my hand, then take one out and put it in my pocket under the pretense that I was never good at math, so I need to practice. I always end up with two sponge balls, though.

Anyways, I was performing this for a Kindergartener and her dad. I put them in my hand and asked her how many should be in there. She was shy, so her dad kinda helped her along. He put up his index and middle fingers and told his kid that there were two. Then he said I took away one. What he did was he grabbed his index finger with his other hand and put it down, leaving his middle finger blatantly protruding from his hand. Once he realized what he did, he quickly switched fingers. I just pretended like I didn't notice it, but I couldn't help but chuckle a bit.
