I love all the hardware that I have, but these days, my absolute favorite item is the cowl that I had made for my Chrysalis escape. Everyone who sees it just loves it. The audience's favorite item has to be my favorite item. Here is a picture.

Doc! That is one great looking cowl! Very dramatic looking!
What is your favorite escape prop or item and how often do you use it in your routines? Difficult question, as I love all my props (and I have a few!). However if “most used” indicates favorite then it has to be my “Challenge Belt” with accessories made by Steve Baker. The Challenge Belt made is getting the most play. I have used it in 95% of my escape shows (roughly 35 in the past three months). It has totally replaced the Straight Jacket portion of the act. It is a killer prop and lends itself to a great back-story. I’ve been using a Posey Transport Bag over it to add cover and dramatic tension (makes it seem like a full view escape but in truth is not!). For repeat engagements (those in which I have performed my Challenge Belt act) I use Santini’s “Ultimate Handcuff Challenge Escape” (mentioned by Shawn above). This is a super and well thought out prop! You can borrow a padlock, a pair of handcuffs, and a blue box and still be able to get out (If you can open a pair of handcuffs!). Sadly only used in about 5 to 8% of my shows. I recently used it for a “Challenge Escape” performed for a Federal Prison’s holiday party. Otherwise I would have to say that my next favorite prop is 100 feet of good quality climbing rope which gets used almost as much as the Challenge Belt. But that's just this month! Who knows what next month will bring

Yes Harry the Belt makes a pleasant change to the SJ.
Favorite props, all of them that I can get out of easily(Belt is the exception). Most used,,,,,all of them that I can get out of easily. Truth. Ken. |

I’m with you Ken! They have to be easy outs anymore for me. It’s part of becoming an old phart! I bill myself as the Worlds Oldest, Still Living AND Still Performing Escapologist! LOL!!!
I do a 100-foot rope escape being tied to my wheel chair! Talk about drama! Just watch the little fat man struggle to get to his O2!

Dang Ken! You stay on the cutting edge! Getting Steve Baker to make it for you is pure genius!
You know they say that memory is the second thing to go as we age. I forget what the first thing is!
