I own the gospel card trick 'The Tree of Hearts'. I thought this could easily be adapted to a King of Hearts - which I also have seen has been done as a gospel trick commercially. Anyway, I need some ideas as to presenting the effect.

I present 3 stage size cards: King Clubs; in the middle the King Hearts; King Spades. Sorry about this, but here follows a mish-mash of different ideas. As this is to be a Christmas routine I patter about the 3 Kings being 'Cristmassy', reminding us of the Christmas story. I might spend a bit of time (not too long though) about the wise men following the star. The word 'follow' might be vital, as I wanted to present the routine as a 'follow the King' (emphasis on 'follow'). I want to remind the audience that the heart reminds us of love. Turning the three cards face down I remove the centre card, place it face down away from the remaining two and then show the two remaining kings (those that know the trick, know what has happened). I might tell some sort of story about three men, perhaps in a parable, despising one of them - giving a purpose for placing the 'King of Hearts' to one side. Getting in that Jesus should be King of our hearts at some point. Anyway in the end the 'rejected' card - the card the audience have been told to 'follow' - is turned face up and is shown to be a picture of Jesus and not the king of hearts.

I want a coherent story which might tie this routine together. Any help gratefully received. It doesn't have to conform to my initial ideas, as there is probably a better way to do this, but I would love to tie it to Christmas in using the three kings (even if the 3 kings patter is just an introduction before the main thrust of the trick).
