I found this red plastic coin cylinder from one of my magic kits from when I was a kid, but I can't for the life of me remember how the effect works. I remember it came with a ball vase, a plastic sword box, and I think some small cups and balls. Four quarters fit inside of it, but I don't want to say more about it in a public forum. Can anyone point me to some resources for this effect or what it's meant to approximate? (I think that since it was a kid's kit that the key to the prop might be to remove the need for sleights for a more mature effect.)

Is that the trick that also came with a lid that had a bunch of holes in it and you pushed the sword thru the coin?

Yes. I'm pretty sure the two tricks are unrelated, but yah, it's in the same kit.

It's a German coin box. Look it up in Bobo's.

1st You glue a quarter to the side that is shallow.
2nd You put 4 quarters in to the deep side in front of the spectator 3rd You flip it over in your hand so the spectator only sees the side with the glued quarter on it 4th You have all 4 quarters in one hand hidden 6th Take the cylinder and put it in the opposite hand 7th The cylinder will only show the quarter that is glued 8th When it is in the opposite hand close it while flipping it to the empty side. 7th Show the cylinder now empty. 8th Reveal the 4 quarters are now in the opposite hand from the cylinder. 9th Take a bow LOL |

Thanks for this info, guys. I did indeed find it in Bobo. I had to find Bobo first!

That is indeed a German Box. Just for a reference to readers of this thread, a German Box is nothing more than a Boston Box without the lid.
