Those look lovely Jim. You got a good deal on the treatment as well. I can say I've never seen a car axle look so d.a.mn pretty!

These look awesome! Also, let Red know he spilled something on his good Yoga shirt! I miss that guy, tell Florida to let him come home for a visit!

Jim, what are the axles out of and is there some history or story that goes with swallowing an axel?

Red's car axles are from a Model T, he cut one in half and grounded down the end of it and swallowed it! If there is more to the story than that I'm not sure what it is!

Almost every Sunday I go to the I.I.S.A. Club in Gibsonton to watch my beloved Packers...After the Game I go over and visit w/ Ward and C.M. and whoever else is there...While there one time (last year) I asked Red about swallowing the model T axles, which he had said he gave his last one to Todd, However since Model T axles were also used as Tent stakes (Known as Gearheads) he had a couple (from the WoW show) and told me if I took them to a machinist and had them "cleaned" up He would let Lori photograph him and I could keep one of them...Soooo, I took the gearheads on the road w/ me...In Amarrillo TX my freind Dennis,(Paul, You met Dennis) who knew Red from his Thomas Carnival Days took me to the Machinist Crabtree Amusements uses and I had them "Cleaned" up (not cut in 1/2 like earliar model)...When I returned to Florida, at Winter Quarters I showed them to Lee Kolozy and he said I should have them nickled...The first weekend off the road, I forgot to bring them to Tampa, the second week I had to go to Quarters for Jury Duty, Finnally I made it to Tampa w/ the Gearheads and ran into Red @ the Showfolks circus in Sarasota and made arrangements to pick him and his swords up @ Wards on Monday to take them to be plated and by tuesday they were done...We only have to wait for Lori to return (Trip) so she can Photograph Red and the Journey will be complete...and that is the Story of my involvement w/ Red and the axles...I plan on displaying the Gearhead w/ a signed photo of Red swallowing it, Much like I display the Jamie Grant Bottle with signed Ripley cartoon...
