Before I purchased my strait jacket, I want to find out if they will shrink or not. If it does, it might be better to start off with a bigger size.

Unless you really know what you are doing do not wash it if it has leather straps. It can ruin the jacket. No jokie, get it dry cleaned,or just spot cleaned.

Even dry cleaning can weaken the straps. Be careful.

Some jackets have removable straps. 7 minutes into my DVD I advise people to remove the straps before subjecting the material to cleaning... but then again, not all jackets have removable straps so I would then suggest using a stiff brush and soap but never any bleach. Then rinse that style of jacket while the straps are held-up away from the water. Maybe tying them together and using them to hang the jacket over a rod. Drip dry and then in the sun.
Also, if you oil the leather before hand the leather will be better preserved. And.. you may use Scotch Guard on nice clean canvas but DO NOT EVER jump in the water because Scotch Guard seals the weave in the fabric and it will press against you like dried plaster (Very dangerous in the water). Reapply Scotch Guard from time to time because water and perspiration will break it down.
