I just got Ricky Jay's "Cards as Weapons" and I like it. There is A LOT to read though. I tried Jay's grip and I flung a card extremely fast across my rooms. Does anyone here use card scalling from this book in their act? I think I may do boomerang card after I practice this for a long time for my friends. I think they would like it. One thing that surprised me in this book, there is nudity. Using beautiful women to promote his technique.....maybe I should do that Smile . Please tell me what you think of this.

Tell you what to think of nudity or throwing cards. Tough question.

Dj,

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your copy?

I bought this book when it first was published. It has quite a lot of good information inside. Ricky also authored another book called "Learned Pigs and Fireproof Women". That book is really a compilation of Magic acts throughout the Centuries. I have seen him in a few movies recently, he still manages to crack me up every time. Smile

I wonder on what premise does one get the book for free.
Are we talking about the actual book here or maybe a scanned version?!

Mine is a paperback book. I haven't looked at it in a while so I couldn't tell you if it was scanned or not. I don't think my friend would make copies, being that is illegal.

I sold my copy for about $255 on e-bay last year. I bought my copy for $10 and I can honestly tell you that most people would not spend the ridiculous amounts of money for this book if they knew what was inside.

What kind of stuff are taught in this book, I'm hoping it's not all card throwing.

Also where can I get this book?

This is the best book to learn card scaling though.

thk- yes, all that is taught is how to throw cards. But the boomerang card is worth learning. I would try and find it really cheap because I wouldn't want to pay a lot of money either.

I don't think so because it would probably be pirated.
