Hello!
I just purchased a set of Victory Cubes and they should arrive next week. I have the dice version. I was wondering if you can share some ideas of how best to use them in a children's show (mainly in homes or school gyms). Any creative thoughts? Thanks so much!!! Mike |

I use the only in my school shows in my math show to just some decor. They look great. I would not use them in a house TOO BIG.

I thought they would be. I too bought them for decoration and to use as a Dropbox but wondered if anyone has had success with them in effects.
Thanks do much for input!!!! |

I haven't used them in an actual trick, but they are great for decoration. Placed correctly, they can help prevent kids from trying to get behind your backdrop. I also use them to hide my speaker and audio setup.

Excellent. I like the idea of placing them to conceal behind the back drop. Thanks!

I use them for decor as well, but also as a cover for Axtell's Hands Free Toucan. Stacking them together covers the bird before the show, and they are easily removed as Louie comes to life. I move them over to the other side of the stage set up, and can ditch props in them. Love the cubes, especially when I have the room.

The video with them explains putting props inside them then reaching thru the dots to pull them out, depending on what you use in your show that may be an option. On the video they pull out rope, vanishing ketchup bottles, cards, silks....

The issue with bigger wands and Vcubes is that the last two wands stick out the BACK of the cube, so you need some sort of backdrop or curtain...

As with everyone else I used mine mostly as stage decoration.
Stashed the bigger wands in them and used them as a drop box. But -- I also used Random Fate from Creative Magic. That has a couple of die with all the sides. I used the Vcubes as the bottoms, set the die from Rfate on top. rolled the die to select the kids to come up on stage with me. that makes haveing dice up on stage self explaining, since I used them for more than just grab and drop box. OH AND THEY LOOK SO COOL UP THERE...... |

My opener for larger gigs in Churches and schools is:-
(1) walk on stage with the gimmick cube folded up and build it (2) drop the open-topped cube on top and push it down (3) have foam noodles (4" thick, 60" long) thrown on stage in as many different ways as possible and insert through the holes in the cube (like swords but funnier) (4) remove noodles and produce the Rev or Headteacher from the top for outdoor gigs I use them as collection points for props and tie balloons down to them as well I think I now have 8 sets of cubes and am now planning on adapting my own stage to fit some of the illusions shown on the dvd and in other books love the plays big, packs tiny concept

I use them primarily for decoration and to block angles, but starting to work with my granddaughter now - She has learned the Temple of Benares, to hold a dove, etc. so she may also begin to learn how to appear out of them - but also have the Cube Squared, but like to appear somebody bigger than she is right now out of that.
The magic is not in our sleights and illusions, but instead in our ability to bring love and joy.

Revmike, have you considered putting a stool int he cube squared for her to get on, to increase the size/height during the production?

These are wonderful ideas! Please keep posting. When I receive mine I'll know if producing the birthday boy/girl is possible. Does anyone do this and is it hard to teach the kid?

I've found non-magical adults hard enough to work with...

Mike,
I have a rubbermaid container on each side of my show that I use for a dump cases and I place the victory cubes on the sides (I have 2 set) and they hide the ugly containers. I am pretty much packing my show up right in front of my audience. The cubes add to the decor. I don't bring a lot into a show so for my they are not too big for a house. The 2'X2' rubbermaids have taken the place of my suitcase table. I can place both v-cubes can fit inside one bag. That is how I use them. These are great props and if you look at them as props then you will see their usefulness. Anyone who buys these for the appearance illusion will not be able to do this in a house unless it is a huge house. Good luck. Patrick |

It is not difficult to teach the child, BUT: 1 - they have to be in a good frame of mind, without the inclination of ruining it for a laugh. 2 - you have to rehearse without other kids in the area 3 - the angles can be tricky in a small performing area I only did this at outside parties where there would be enough space. After a couple of times I didn't like the effort it took, so I now use the Cube2. Much easier. |

Someone else posted in an old thread here about using a th**d h**d gimmick with the dot cubes and rocky raccoon and going behind the cube and "holding on to it, and then rocky starts moving around in the cube popping in and out....
