Some things have advantages over other things.
For example, IT, people can often see it.
But for Magnets, there will be no sight of evidence.

But for Magnets, it you can move objects but you can't levitate objects that far but for IT you can.

For IT, there are incredible hook-ups, for magnets there are M5 and The Hover Card.

I just wanted your opinions on these.

Thnx

I think it depends on the magician and what they are looking for. If they want a strong telekinetic effect than I'd say go for the magnet, however if you want a solid levitation I'd go for the IT. Like I said it all depends on what your looking for. I definitely agree with what your saying though, both have there advantages and disadvantages.

How about IT with a magnet in it Smile . Anyway, I'm not big into IT or magnets. I very seldom use IT because it doesn't fit my styl of magic. It the winter I'll use my raven because I wear long sleeves. Since the raven has been exposed, I rarely use it though.

The biggest problem with magnets is...NEWSFLASH.....they aren't secret. Everyone knows of them and most people think that's how levitations are done. The best effect is when you use IT to move something in a way a magnet would. Then they think *ahhh magnets, very clever* Once you have them thinking this, they'll just die when it floats all over the place completely in your control.

Well first of all IT's aren't noticable at all if done right.. I only use them for a few select tricks of my own, including my stage show, but they really knock the audience on their butts... There are many many methods where the secret wouldn't be exposed.. if you need advice feel free to contact me at anytime.. JustinDavidMagic@aol.com..

I've used magnets only a select few tmes.. for me they don't get the job done correctly for what I am trying to do. Now if I were to develop a telekenetic routine, I'm sure they would be my best friend Smile..

Right along with what everyone else said, it depends on the trick..

Hi djvirtualreality! Smile

You say the Raven's been EXPOSED?

That I've not heard, and people I've been using it on, don't have a clue...unless they're just being polite, LOL!

Of course, I use it in many different ways, maybe that helps...but exposed? I don't remember Mr. Valentino tipping the gaff on that one. (?)

People will forget what they see on the exposure specials. They could watch it and one hour later show them the same trick and they wouldn't have a clue how you did it.

Hello,

Here's my point of view :
* Magnets :
- Difficult and dangerous to transport
- Heavy
- Most of the effect the spec can imagine there is a magnet somewhere !
- You can not do levitation effect

* IT :
+ Easy to transport.
+ There is a lot of effect that doesn't need a complicate hook up
- If you do a levitation effect, the spec can imagine there is a thread somewhere !
+ You can do PK effect and levitation
- light problem

I think IT is way better ! But I really don't do/like levitation effect. You should also look for "loop" ! You can do great PK effect, impromptu, finishing clean and VERY easy to "hook up" !
There is also a Bloom video on IT but no levitation and PK effect Smile

A+

I agree with Nicolas...

IT is something I use regularly. PK is a hidden tool. I use the raven for a "Bat" once in a while. Great for a hold-out. But not for moving things, as the audience pretty much can figure that out.

Floating things with IT is also kind of risky, unless you make it short and sweet, ala Astrosphere using the Ralph Wichmann hookup. The cloth gets the heat, until at the last second, you drop the cloth, and the ball goes from hand to hand...that's it. Any more, and the thing loses "effect".

One caution on magnets:

If you use a Raven, or Bat, or any PK rare-earth magnet, make sure you stay away from video tapes and audio cassettes! I won't whine here about the devastating loss I suffered, due to not heeding the above warning.

Some stuff can never be replaced. With PK, even being NEAR such things can cost you. From now on, my audio and video tapes are on one side of the house, my "stuff using magnets" on the other.... Smile never again.

I also fully agree with Dougini Smile
Also, magnet is dangerous for credit card (erase the data info on the black strip), and can stop watch for life !!
And when you walk along a metal furniture (escalator for example), you get suddenly stuck Smile

Be VERY careful with magnet....
