My guess is that just about everybody in the world already saw the original.

Cue the "European version is better"/"Why would I want to see the American version?" comments in 3...2...1...

I saw the original as well. It wasn't that long ago. The original had the look and feel of good Hollywood movie, except that it was in another language. That might be part of the reason.

I love the original one. The American version can't be as good. It's only around 2 1/2 hours long. The European version I think is about 6 to 7 hours long on three DVDs.

That might be the package for all 3 films.
I was speaking to a Swedish friend yesterday. He couldn't believe how popular the books and movies have become.

I didn't know there was an original. I was interested in the film, I'm sorry it's not doing well. I might catch it on Netflix.

I have not yet seen the movie, however I have spoken to 3 people who have and they thought it was quite good.

The comments here remind me of some who review magic effects. They do not have the effect but they give a review and say it is not that good. Again, several here have not seen it and yet say it is not that good. Really, how can you put any stock in someones comment that has not seen it and reviews it?

I enjoyed all three of the foreign versions. I like the sub-titles with the original language on most movies. It gives more to the story I think. Not sure if they are good, but I am just a hacker myself and that is the only reason that I had even heard of them. All three are on the Best Hacker Movies lists.

I am not going to worry about which is 'better'. You can only watch the movie in front of you, not the movie in your head.

Like most North Americans, I had an active dislike of subtitles. But I saw the first movie out of curiosity and I enjoyed it a great deal. The success of the movie caused a local theater to run a Norwegian movie called Max Manus, which I went to see and found it to be the best movie of that year - even with sub titles. so, the movie helped me get over my subtitle aversion. I might see the North American version once the holidays are over and I might have a bit of money.
