Hi guys!

As some of you may know, I'm not a real great card guy. That is to say, I don't like to do "knuckle-busting" sleights with cards. If a subtlety will suffice, I'll take it anyday over a sleight.

With that being said, I was wondering if these books would give me some good card material to perform. I have only one card book...Royal Road to Card Magic, so I am quite the beginner in this area. Does Mr. Beam expect you to know certain basic sleights in his explanations, or is everything explained for you?

I'll probably end up buying one book first, and if I like it, I'll buy the other one (I realize that the first book is out of print). Should I take them in order (#2, then #3), or does it really not matter?

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dr. Dinwidie! What's up! Thanks for the info on cards as weapons... however, there was more to it than that I thought. Anyway..... dude.... do what you want.. take it in any order you want.

You got to stand for something or you will fall for anything .... unless you are tired and you need to lay down or at least sit down then it is ok not to stand, my own opinion of course.

The Beam books are an excellent value which I can highly recommend.

I prefer #2 to #3 but that is a personal preference. Both books contain a wealth of material.

Regarding "Semi-Automatic Card Tricks Volume 4", I spoke with Raj Madhok (who is editing the manuscript) and he said it should be out within the next couple of months. It's going to be packed with some killer material.

These books would be perfect for you. Steve Beam is a personal friend and I've known him for years. The material is strong, well explained and does not depend on heavy duty sleights.

I will add the disclaimer that some of my material is in the books (I don't even remember which ones) , but that's not why I'm telling you to purchase them.
