I'm talking about real, honest to goodness razor sharp ones. I want to count fingers so raise those hands.
There is a discussion going on about chainsaw juggling and someone thinks you should use a un-gaffed real saw and chain. Crazy talk. Right? Who would do that? |

Believe it or not. Come to find out they are discussing a chainsaw stunt but it began as a juggling question.
Seriously, who knows a juggler that juggles real knives or a real chainsaw, full throttle, sharp chain, working governor? |

I'll be honest, I have juggled genuine knives. Used to do steak knives as an impromptu stunt when I worked at TGI Fridays as a bartender. I still do broken bottles in my show on occasions. A running chainsaw? I can't see there being any added entertainment value there though.

Sharp yep, stick my knives into a log at the end, kids ask if they can see them and I say yes. they cant get them out of the log!
I don't see a big deal with chain saws real or not I find them a bit boring. I have yet to see some one do an act with a chain saw that I found entertaining.

I zipped myself open here and there with knives and axes, but I have drew more blood over the years playing with balisongs. (and I still play with them just as much too)

Pokie - seriously...?????
Ever heard of these guys? It might just be me, but I think they are pretty entertaining in everything they do, including chain saws. Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgaQ6sWk-y4 |

So, do you think they could not do there act without chain saws? (ok, THIS part of the act.) they cut the most boring part of the act, the juggling, 3 saws, how many catches? 3? 5? and how long did it take to get there? them starting the darn thing was far more entertaining than the juggling.
and my room mate thinks the one in the toto is funnier than that!

I'd never dare juggle my chain saw, mainly because it had an electric cord on it.
I do have some blunt juggling knives. I don't think I would attempt sharp blades. |

At one time I was working on a brief juggling routine involving those shuriken that are shaped like playing cards. I could juggle them okay (practicing with gloves on) but every once in a while I would get a little slice (slightly worse than a papercut) on the area between the thumb and first finger, and that got to be a bit to bothersome to continue working on the routine.

Jay and I juggle standard Dube juggling knives. Though blunt, they stick into our knife-throwing board when thrown, and the worst that has ever happened is the nicking of fingers. To juggle knives that are as sharp as this thread's title describes certainly shows bravery and virility, but when you are a performer that does 4+ shows a day, safety takes priority.

Dube juggling knives *can* cut you. After a few years away from juggling I grabbed one from my bag and gave it a spin and was astonished when the tip flipped past the palm of my hand and created a slice 2-3 inches long. I was so confused at how that could have happened that I flipped it again -- and got another matching slice right next to the first one.
After the bleeding stopped I did a few very exaggerated flips and then everything kind of fell back into place. But I still don't know exactly how it happened. Jay

The biggest problem with Dube juggling knives is that they are heavy, long, and will do a job on your hands.

Just think of the endless times street performers pass 6 objects around a person. It's the journey that's funny... Usually This routine reminds me of a similar idea by Barry & Stuart. They do a classical piece dressed as musicians but use the knife through arm trick. It's also very funny in that it takes a dangerous object (perceived at least) and puts it in a context that it shouldn't be in. If you want to see it it's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZg7_aTLq......a_player This routine does the same. Chainsaws in ballet. Great idea. As are all the Passing Zone routines. Very funny. Very entertaining.

If you're looking for a decent set of knives, not too heavy and look razor sharp but aren't you should check out the Juggle Dream knife from Odd Balls.
Only £15, so loads cheaper than Dube, and they juggle GREAT. Heavy enough to use outside... I took them for a spin in Conwy, North Wales back in May. If you're not familiar with North Wales they do wind. But these knives stayed true (unlike the Mr Babache knife that's more expensive and too light to be useful for anything). In fact you can pick up a set of three in their package deal for less than one Dube knife!!! For three: http://www.oddballs.co.uk/3-x-juggle-dre......476.html For one: http://www.oddballs.co.uk/juggle-dream-s......460.html
