The situation:

Someone wants to publish a book. That person finds someone who agrees to review the book. A variation of one of your tricks is in the book (or one of your tricks inspired a trick in the book). Do you care if the writer sends the reviewer your trick for review purposes.

I think it makes for a more informative review if the reviewer knows the variations/ inspirations mentioned in the material that they are reviewing.

Well, hopefully, the author has cleared everything with the predecessor, and have pointed out the significant difference in the credits section.
