Interesting...
I don't expect claps. I rarely get claps. I am after laughs. The problem is that children 3-8-ish don't know how to be an audience like adults do. The kids don't know the ceremonies and proper ways to show adulation. So you can either let it go (as I do) or teach them that when they see something they like they should clap, like this... Teach them. Do a trick, then lead the applause for them until they get it. But I like my way better. no applause and lots of laughter is better than a smattering of applause. Let it go or teach them how. If you want them to clap I am sure you can teach them so they get the pattern. Or try Trevor Lewis's brilliant and often copied bit. Teach the kids that at the end of the trick you will say, "Well that's the end of that trick." Teach the kids to say "awww." Then you say, "But I have another one." And teach the kids to clap and scream, "Yay." That is one way to get applause. And the kids love doing it.

I think I'll go your way .i feel a lil bit awkward to teach or lead the kids to clap .I do get a lot of laughs(thanks to U) and I'll try to be happy with that.

I think I will teach them, Kids have to learn and schools are not teaching them how to be an audience.
