Now that you’ve had several years to think about it, what are your feelings about being on Celebracadabra? Where would you place that in your top highlights of your career? How did it affect your business? Your income? Can you tell us any behind the scenes stories?

Concerning your appearance on Celebracadabra I like to know, since not all of it was kidshow magic, if you had any help from magic consultant? If so who helped you?
also what have you learned from participating? |

Celebracadabra was a great experience. It was very hard work, but very fulfilling. Not only was I the only kid show guy on the show, but the very fact that they had children's magic represented was good for children's magic. It was definitely a top five highlight of my career.
I thought it was a great show but on the wrong network. Instead of Vh1 it should have been on Bravo or TLC. With a slightly older audience. The main audience on Vh1 is 18-25 year olds who want to watch hot chicks in hot tubs. So for that reason, it didn't do much for my private party business in NY. Parents and 6 year olds don't watch Vh1. But I loved doing it. Spending 6 weeks in LA, going to the castle everyday, and learning about TV production. I rarely asked for outside help. Im kind of proud of that. I have been doing magic since I was 8 years old. So I do know a lot about other genres of magic besides Kid show magic. When I needed help I called a few friends who know a lot about magic. After the first challenge I figured out a lot about what kinds of tricks would win. Easy tricks, with strong impact, and visual. Short was better than long. Also taking advantage of the locations (like when I did a card trick using the names of the stars on the Hollywood walk of fame when we were shooting at the Walk of Fame). I can tell you a funny story. There was one episode where the audience at the Magic Castle voted on the best act. The next day we were shooting the scene where the judges tell us the results. I was reading the teleprompter while Jonathan Levitt was reading to the camera. Lisa and I lost by one vote. But I read it before Jonathan said it, and I reacted out loud and said, "Oooowww!" I ruined the shot and we had to re-shoot that scene. But I learned not to read the prompter during the shoot!
