Justin Flom's "Card Artistry" is an unexpected revelation of a selected card in which the magician turns the deck into a famous painting (or if you prefer, a brain-scan image).

It's the rarest kind of magic effect: it captures the imaginations of both magicians and audiences. Evoking a comparison of magician as artist, the performer "paints" his deck of cards into a four-by-four card mosaic of the Mona-Lisa. The spectator's selection appears in the painting! Inspired by a great Chris Kenner effect, "Card Artistry" is full of touches by professional performer Justin Flom.

• Includes custom printed USPCC playing cards
• If you can shuffle a deck, you can perform this effect
• Includes high-quality instructional DVD
• Can be used with any poker-sized deck
• Supply your own close-up pad

I am usualy not quick to order something.
This I ordered immediately and without hesitation.

With my memorized deck and photoshop, I make a miracle of it. (I hope... Smile )

I went to The Session Convention this past weekend and seen this performed live from the man himself. All I can say is "wow!". 130 magicians, all in one room, all gasped at the same exact moment. This is really stunning, a real reputation maker.

This doesn't suit my performing style what so ever so I didn't pick this up but for any one who could see themselves doing this, you'll love it! Justin walked everyone through the method of this, to see just how easy it is to perform, it's practically beginner level easy. Also, justin talked about the gimmick cards that have been made for this and you can see straight away that they are top notch quality.

One of the, if not THE effect of the convention.

It looks very visual. But only if you´ve enough space and a close up pad....

Pardon my ignorance, may I ask if the close up pad really a must? Thanks.

I guess it´s not a must - but if you want to spread the cards properly you´ll need a good surface. Or am I wrong?

A good surface would do fine. The initial trouble would be other cards sliding over the other. The main purpose of the mat is to retain the card where they should be.

From personal experience, the effect would work best with a mat. Other surface won't do the same unless you are working with something that's coated with rubber..

Seriously, will this not work on a regular varnished table, at all? I love it but wouldn't carry a close-up mat around just for this...

Are there multiple reveals available? For the Mona Lisa this would be just one card to change...

I think this looks absolutely great!! Fact is it could be done walk around but it is not a walk around effect really. I would happily perform this at wedding fares and trade shows, anywhere I have a surface available, for me rolling up a close up may and having it in my bag ain't not thang! I prep crazy stuff for those one off performances so to being a mat along is actually nothing in comparison! Plus I love the line, 'Leonardo Da Vinci will find it, well not really, cause he is dead!' I love deadpan comedy like that, just my style!!

Congrat Justin, it is a shame I didn't get to meet you at the session! I'm sure we would have had a good laugh!!

For those complaining about the mat, why not make the mat work for you? Have it airbrushed with your name and contact info? Make it look like your sign (Both sides. Why not?) That way it serves a purpose?

Cool...just ordered this with both revelations. It's the kind of card reveal that I think would get a very good reaction from a lay audience. Added to this the effect is very basic in terms of handling and so one could focus on the presentation. The only shortfall is the need for a close up mat and some table space which might make it not worth it for some. Perhaps someone who has purchased this can advise as to the absolute need for a close up pad or if it can be done without.

It would be nice if a different card could be revealed for those who do repeat performances.

I like this effect but wish it had been done with a painting other then Mona Lisa. It's a bit over used IMHO. I believe cardshark has an effect out that also uses the Mona Lisa Painting.

It does come with 2 card revelations for the Mona Lisa. Great effect.

I think Steve's review is spot on. What you see is what you get. I bought both sets just to have them (both come with 2 reveals). How often will I get to perform a single deck trick that requires a close up mat and I beleive a large one, I don't know. But for the price, nice to have in my arsenal.
