Hi, just wondering if anyone has tribute to varone? Is it good? Does it do as it claims? Is it easy to perform ?
I have the 2000 3 card monte, also by henry evans...very disappointed with this trick... That's why I need some reviews before I dare to purchase another of Evans' tricks again. Please advise Thanks eric

Eric,
Go ahead and purchase tribute to varone. It's an excellent effect but that is only my personal taste.A neat trick that is relatively simple to perform.Read the reviews here. http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_in......_id=4555 :goodluck:

erictan8888,
Do yourself a favour and don't buy Henry Evans marketed effects. 80% of them are all in his "Something More Than an Illsuion" dvds. Go buy those instead of his tricks. |

Don't pass it up. With the set up you can perform one of the best rising cards out there. I saw Henry lecture at the IBM con. here in Orlando a few years ago. After watching the rising card I turned and looked at Steve Bedwell we both said "I'll use that!"

Tribute To Varone is an excellent effct. Pass on his DVD's and other poorly made marketted effects.
The rising card I believe is his Automatic Kings. I'd go with Kundalini Rising for that.

hi jason, i am a bit confused here... are you refering to tribute to varone or the automatic kings?
i personally always use kundalini...in my opinion its one of the best card rising effect....with a borrowed deck... except that i handle the deck...i never let the spectator take the deck as described in the instructions...i feel they might see how the effect is done... thanks eric

I believe Jason was referring to "Automatic Kings" since that's Evans' product that can be used for a rising card effect.
In my opinion, it's one of the most powerful gimmicks to accomplish rising cards, and is superior to "Kunalini Rising" in that there are absolutely no angle problems. Regards, Larry D. |

Automatic kings, or automatic queens as it is the video is just another use for the rising card gimmick, the rising card is beautful, as is perfect control 1&2

Marko,
With "Kundalini Rising," you can't have the spectator look down on the top of the deck after the gimmick is engaged and the deck is placed in its box. That's the exact reason that Jeff McBride himself has the spectator hold the boxed deck above his head when making the card rise. With the "Automatic Kings" gimmick, the spectator can look at the top of the deck because there's nothing there to see (and there are no other angle problems). Larry D. |

Yes, but why do they need to look down into the box. Even if the effect allowed for such a thing I'd still have the participant hold the box above their head as it brings the action to a higher viewing level for the rest of the audience.

Marko, I suppose it depends on your performing venue, but I haven't had any visibility issues with a spectator holding the boxed deck at chest level.
Also, I prefer Henry Evans' gimmick because the effect is less awkward/more comfortable for the spectator, the spectator can easily see the card rise along with the rest of the audience, the spectator's face in "in frame" which is conducive to the audience feeding off of the spectator's reaction, and the "Kundalini Rising" gimmick will not work with my version of the effect (Henry Evans' gimmick will) where I have any card simply named versus removed from the deck and that named card rises in the spectator's hand.
