Wow, what a question. If I had to pick one, I guess it would be Coins Across. Honorable mentions go to Cups and Balls, Ring & String, and Chicago Surprise, though. Good topic.

Hi Guys
One Trick hey? Well I would stick to the trick that was the catalyst for my magic interest called “Astonishing Appearance” which I first learned in Bob Longes “Worlds Best Cards Tricks”. I still perform this trick to this day, because the impact I receive from the effect with nothing more in the method then an elementary slight, it's pure gold. Magically Aus |

One trick? Playing dead. The humans love that one! If I were to do one piece of magic... I don't think that's personally possible considering my particular view of magic. Being able to talk to a person and make a connection is the best piece of magic I know so I would say that. Not only could you do tons of effects using just your voice, but you do something that not "trick" can do when you connect with someone.
I hope not too deep for the conversation. -Daniel GreenWolf |

I would love to be able to make the Statue Of Liberty disappear. Where can I get a TT big enough to pull it off?

One trick for me would be a pocket full of Hot Rods.

I always carry mr. Osterlinds BCSystem with it I can asound for a fair while. If you're talking gimmicks then it would have to be either the invisible deck or pyro perception, jaw dropping magic at it's best.

Caps & Balls as a classic routine, TT as a utility device and B’wave as a packet/mentalism.

Without limiting my choice to applicability for walk-around or stage, or audience choice I'd choose Galaxy by Paul Harris. It's in AOA. It has ALWAYS caused jaws to drop as people can't reconstruct how the trick has been worked out. There is not a "it must be gaffed" mental out as they can examine the cards afterwards.
It's simply brilliant, but I only save it for special occasions. |

My favorite is the mongolian pop knot by Whit Haydn. It is a fun rope trick that is very magical. It combines cut and restored and professors nightmare along with alot of humor.

Only one trick??? It doesn't bear thinking about.
In this fantasy scenario you would probably bore people doing only the one trick again and again and eventually be shunned! lol. Of course, the post was probably to find out what people considered the best trick with a view to purchase. Unfortunately there isn't one best trick. Everyone has different styles and tastes and what is good for one magician may not be good for you. Paul. |
