I sat on my sofa and cringed. Then they started saying "sexy" and I got behind my sofa and cringed. Then they were down to their underwear so I turned off the TV, watched old Copperfield clips on youtube, hit myself on the head repeatedly with a wooden spoon and tried to remember why I pay my TV licence!!!

Couldn't agree more!! If something goes wrong, that's unfortunate, but if things go wrong because it's poorly built, or because you allow people who don't know how to operate the prop screw up your performance then you're just plain dumb! The thing that annoys me most is that it's always the magician that has to 'do something' with the celebrity, why do they never put a celeb on a motorcycle and have them drive in a steel globe? Or have them walk on the outside of a Wheel Of Death? Because magic is easy right? It's just a trick and once you know it, everyone can do it.. Magicians agreeing to work with celebs who don't really know what they're doing are destroying our art and in this case our buisness and investments. Involving laymen into the magic is OK, but it has to be foolproof, there can NOT be a chance that they'll screw up, and a Slicer isn't your average, cute, little magic trick, it's a serious illusion. And why didn't they cut it out? Or atleast do it over, sure the audience will know, but now the whole world knows.. 'Because it's just soo friggin' hilarious that they stripped down that people wouldn't notice'??? The kids on youtube, the masked magician, they are small fish compared to the so called 'pro's' who do this on national TV.. |

Yeah, but LaurensMalter- Barry and Stuart were the magicians. They really should have practiced the illusion itself more, instead of their unfunny routining.

I can't help but feel for Barry and Stuart given that the presentation of this illusion didn't go to plan.
In respect of what what happened... perhaps they now deserve to be lumped together with and looked on in a similar fashion to the magician referred to in this thread where something similar happened?

I'm amazed no one has mentioned the fact that this looked saveable until David Hay punched the living crap out of it.
And I thought the boys looked lovely in their wee red pants.

Having been to last nights recording two performers were stunning. Of cause Jason Latimer, but the "archer" performed possible effect of the show.
Shame due to the level of skill used most people will never know just how good the effect was, and would just assume it was a stunt. Cheers Rob |

The Archer was indeed a stunt... well performed, but a stunt nonetheless. I'm not so sure it "worked" as well as it could've without a "celeb"... i.e, an assistant putting themselves in assumed danger can be believed - while a "celeb" simply can't, regardless of the reason.

I was disappointed with B&S' slicer too, but for different reasons. Stuart should have been inside. I take one look at that winning smile and I just can't stay mad.
