Any kids/family entertainers had success with this type of advertising?
I thought it might be a good idea for attracting more people who can afford my services. Here is an example of one in my local area: http://www.336pub.com (click on "advertising enter here" to view online version of printed mag) it is $600yr for half page full color and 20,000 copies per year are distributed. feel free to pm me thanks! How many mom's do you think read that kind of literature? All the country club jobs I get are those that are recommended by the club manager, and most managers work through an agency. The richer they are the fussier they get.

Al, that was a good question to ask.
Mike, some called me about advertising in a publication like that. I wasn't thinking of using it to promote my bday show, rather my close-up work. I just wasn't convinced that these free publications get read enough to justify the expense. I've used a paid ad in a local free Parent's magazine and that generate's some work but not a lot. |

Parents magazines around have run their course, and for some reason no magicians advertise there anymore. My suspicion is the internet has picked up the slack. That being said Parents magazines are read by middle class moms, and golf magazines are read by duffers only. IMHO you would be addressing the wrong market with that kind of publication. I have worked in more than 20 country clubs over the years, and every single booking was handled by an agent. Rich people don't like to take chances.

You guys are definitely right about the parent mags too, I'm one of the last magicians in there and will be pulling out soon. Besides repeats/referrals, my source of leads is the web for almost everything else.

WOW
I'm so used to being contradicted around here that this sort of agreement leaves me speechless.

Foxfire helps me to correct my spelling, but I still need help with my word selection.

Was it about buying magic wands?
