Just want to point out, that Axel Hecklau has a fantastic routine with an ordinary leather dice cup (unprepared) and a jumbo die. Saw it live at a lecture and was very entertained and mystyfied.
It is called "Just a Cup". It also has the advantage of using ordinary well known objects and not a special magic prop like an alu or wodden chop cup. Troels |

The opening I did for Alchemy is essentially an ungimmicked one cup routine, although it does smoke (which could be considered a gimmick?!):

Herr Hecklau--Fantastisch! I will be saving my pennies. I gather from some of the comment on another thread on this routine that a different cup could be used if one wished; is this correct? I ask as I am thinking how a three cup routine might meld into this one, and I would need three matching cups for what I have in mind. Or are duplicate cups available if the first answer is "no".

I loved the Bartender Patrick routine. Fast and had them off guard all the time with a lot of fun and laughs.

Does anybody know where one might find a large die to use as a final load?

I got a version too. Improvised, nothing special about the sleights in use, but I tried to make more stuff happen than the usual in the pocket, and back.

Very nice Roland.
It's cool when the sleights feel so natural that you can just improvise. The only thing I would do different is to perform a total vanish of the ball at the end of the routine, instead of "putting it away" in your lap. |

One thing the "putting it away" does is to justify going into his lap for the next load.
I like justified actions. To me, it screams "TRICK" if I see an unnatural move that has no reason for being there other than to retrieve something. You only have to "rewind" one step to figure out where the load came from.

I like the fact that Roland's routine was shorter than the others, but that is just me, I don't like long drawn out stories!

I totally agree Dave, but I would look at the techniques of Slydini or Gary Ouellet for alternative to directing attention to the lap.
