SIGNAL STICK
This is an old Chinese, plastic import item, I remember from 35+ years back. Inexpensive, but very, very clever. And a real fooler to anyone who thinks they know the paddle routine. I cannot find it on the web. And don't know if it has been re-made under a different name. Or if the same magic paddle concept is available by another manufacturer. To clarify ... the routine (from memory): The paddle is shown to have 3 red spots on either side. The paddle is shown to have 3 green spots on either side. The paddle is shown to have 3 red spots on one side, and 3 green spots on the other ... ooooh here we go! The paddle is shown to have 3 amber spots on either side. The paddle is shown to have red, amber, green spots on either side - like traffic light signals, hence Signal Stick. This was, and still is, a brilliant, and simple routine. If it no longer exists, then I will have to get this item manufactured with extra modifications. An absolute must have to any close up routine. WulfieSmith ... watch this space |

I have one but the handle is wood and the top and bottom may be a thin plastic. The climax was the spots were all three colors but much larger. It had to be reglued from use. Can't be examined but excellent effect. This is something you could build yourself with basic tools. A square chopstick could be used for the handle.

Hi WulfieSmith. Maybe try Ronjo.com. They have the largest paddle collection that I have ever seen in 1 place. Reasonable prices too. Good luck on the quest.

There is always Histed, funny how no one ever mentions, first published in Abra many years ago.Complete with rhyming patter. I have ot thought of it for years but curiosly I do remember the opening lines.
This is the tale of Winnie West, Who tried to pass her driving test. I also remember at one point' she cried Caramba, and there were the traffic lights all amba james1a |

I think that a company called 'Chu's Magic' put this out in 1979.
There was also another far eastern rip-off at one time whereby the spots went from green-to red-to traffic lights (red/amber/green) and in the final change, the order of the traffic lights changed; the presentation angle being that a chosen colored spot jumped position (a la peg in paddle).
