Guys,

I have a question about Tenyo items that come out each year without numbers like Grand Derby Prediction, Ghost Puzzle and Diminishing Returns.

Are they offered in Japanese packaging only?

Thanks

Yeah, it definitely gets confusing Mate. Here goes. Grand Derby Prediction was originally released as part of Tenyo's 2000 Magician's Only line. It was a 1 year experiment sort of. The tricks were given "T" numbers & unique packaging to make them stand out from the regular line. Some were re-released later with different packaging (Grand Derby, Magic Painting). They are now Japanese packaging only.

Ghost Puzzle is part of Tenyo's annual rewards program. Each year you can send in proofs of purchase from their "T" series & Tenyo will reward you with a free trick. All Japanese packaging & instructions. These are known as Tenyo Specials. With a few exceptions, they tend to disappear fast. I doubt if the free mail-in applies outside Japan, but I could be wrong. Hitomi sells the currently available ones at an excellent price. She also includes English instructions or a performance cd to help us understand. These Specials tend not to be as complex as the regular line & Tenyo would be unable to charge their main line prices. There are some stand-out hidden gems thou, such as Illusion Scale, Ghost Puzzle, Mind Roulette & Magician's Clock in imo.

Stuff like Diminishing Returns shows up just for the h*ll of it. The reason (again, I could be wrong), is that Tenyo doesn't want to wait another full year to release it as a "T" series. It also helps to keep Tenyo in the spotlight so to speak. From this group are items like Close-up Linking Rings, Forget-Me-Not, Miracle Ring & Moment.

It all at 1st appears to be totally confusing, but when you get it, it all makes sense. It allows Tenyo true freedom in their release schedule.

The Sakkaku Illusion Scale is a brilliant trick, and one that would have been one of their best items of the past decade if released as part of their regular line of items. I urge all of you who don't own one to get it from Seo Magic. The Forget-Me-Not coin is also a lovely trick. Some of the other "bonus" items are less intriguing. There was an interesting one with an Origami style snake head and some eggs that I had at one point.

Not confusing at all after your great explanation.

Is the Sakkaku Illusion Scale more than an optical illusion?

Thanks

That Sakkaku Illusion Scale is nice. Was it a premium item from Tenyo or is it available to purchase?

I also am curious as to what it is made out of. Plastic strips or shiny cardboard? Me no like cardboard items (see Mickey Color Changing Cd's).

Hey that's Cool. Illusion Scale is a Tenyo Special. See above post. All plastic with a nifty case. Until just a day or two ago, you could have scored it at Maxello Magic for the great price of $9.50. Someone just gutted the whole stock to either hoard or as giveaways. They'll probably be back there soon, but don't be surprised at a new price jump since they sold out. Hitomi stocks them too & includes a cd of the best performance of the illusion that I have ever seen.

Thanks Inert.

Do you know what Hitomi charges?

Thanks for the additional info, I appreciate it.

SEO Magic has them for $18. You think it was them?

I forgot to mention I saw the McDonald's illusions that were part of their Happy Meal Line on The Tenyo blogspot: http://tenyo-magic.blogspot.com/2010/05/......999.html

Really like that Cubio Hamburger. I have never seen it anywhere or heard of Tenyo doing that for Happy Meals.

Good news! Illusion (Sakkaku) Scale is back in stock at Maxello Magic. There is currently 30 available. The price surprisingly remained at $9.50. The best Tenyo deal of the year, I'm thinkin'.

Stay away from the Maxello versions of these. They are NOT TENYO as advertised on the site.

They are made by some company called "First Magic" and are CARDBOARD, NOT Plastic like the Tenyo version.

I just got mine and am now officially ticked off.

I hope that doesn't apply to all their Tenyo products.
