Hi All,
Wondering if anyone performs this in a "stand up" show...for 20-30 people? And if so, using half dollar sized coins? I have done it for 10 or so folks and the visiblity is good. I tried useing larger coins but found too hard to work with. I was wondering what your experience with this is? thanks, David |

It's one that I use every night in my set at the Vegas Magic Theater. I'm using half dollar sized coins for anywhere between 15 and 60 people and they work fine.
Yes, that is my real name. Yes, I am a real person. No, you probably won't agree with me.

3 Chinese Coins come on and off a ribbon. It is actually a really cool routine to watch! Its a routine by Troy Hooser, and can be viewed here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp7AFD1bYvI

I love this routine! this is pretty much my opener in the close up room @ the castle, and it gets great reactions. I see some magicians do it with dollar size coins, but the coins are thinner, but I stick with half dollar size.

I bought some inexpensive half-dollar sized Chinese coins for this routine - they work but are a bit thick, they just don't feel "good" when using them. Does anyone have a recommendation on a 'favorite' source for Chinese coins for this routine?

The set I use is manufacture by Sterling Magic. They are very good and is recommended by Troy Hooser, creator of Charming Chinese Challenge.

Hi David,
I use C.C.C. for 10-30 people; it's an effect that can play big. I use the dollar-sized Ton Onosaka Harmony coins: http://www.stevensmagic.com/product/coin......1917.htm They aren't exactly cheap, but they are very visible, thin, and I actually find the sleights easier with the dollar size rather than the half size. People love the toss-link! Douglas M. |

4 Coins required.
This is what I consider a Modern Classic. |

The best coins I have found for this effect are available from Joe Mogar. They are dollar sized, very thin, beautiful (Silver and Black), slide like a dream, and have incredibly wonderful milling around the edges.
The Onosaka coins look very nice as well. I also use the "Real Man's Coin Purse to house this. Works perfectly for introducing the first coins, then the something extra. Sammy

You can also get the routine from Troy's book DesTroyers. It also has some other gems.

4 coins, no gaffs, only moderate skill level required, a killer routine and I am still surprised that there are magicians who don't perform this.

My question is, having purchased the Destroyers book, and the coin set marketed by Vanishing, are the contributions by the other workers on the DVD enough to warrant the extra $25-30?
