I was texting with a friend in Japan and mentioned Tenyo - seems my friend's 83 year old father was a magician in the UK. Long story short - my friend said - tell me which Tenyo you want and I'll look for it for you. I am certainly partial to the Tenyo Lucky Rabbit T-188, but it is not new and the likelihood of him finding one is slim.
So, if you were to pick a new Tenyo to recommend to this rookie magician to get his friend to find - what would it be? Thanks |

Thanks again Inert. I "think" I want something that plays well at a table and that can be examined by the audience. But, I am not even savy enough yet to really know what I want.
Thanks for the list. I'll examine each one on the Tenyo site. |

Pfew ... that's a tough question Rik.
Here's my list of items that are still easily available (because they are not discontinued yet) and examinable, easy to do and, of course, nice/good effects: --> on number one, as Inert already stated: Crystal Cleaver! No discussion about it In random order: - Fortune Sticks - see remark made by Inert - I for one have trouble 'seeing' the gimmicks. The Elite version is not easier to read imho - Ultimate Shocking Pen, although this has been around for a very long time in other 'pen through dollar' versions. This Tenyo version is examinable though, but then again other versions are often too if you hide the gimmick at the end of the trick ... - Soft Coins - also copied by other manufacturers, but the quality is not like Tenyo's version - The Third Eye or Mystic Scope - fun tricks, The Third Eye is more fancy - Mystery Triangle - your basic penetration frame but a lot better - Balloon Illusion is good for parlor, can be casually handed out for inspection, but not too long! - Prison Box - try to figure this out without knowing the secret, really - Card Case - this is a magnetic card case and therefore inspectable - the new version is thinner/slimmer then the old one which is good - Ghost Lamp - I advise to make your own gimmick which will be thinner and less noticeable by the audience. Take it away after the trick and all can be inspected. The lamp itself can be inspected all he time. |

Wonderful - this group is so fantastic.
Well - I am off to do my first big show - a 15 minute cameo at a large ladies banquet at our church. I am as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Will report later. Shalom all. |

I told them my father was from Cairo and my mother was from Melan Italy and that my name was Ahmed, Amir, Luicci Malarki. I had a small stuffed cat (Captain Hook) that was my assistant and I used him as a mind reader. I pointed to a young lady near the front and asked "What is your name?" she said "Tori" I brought the cat to my ear and had him whisper to me - then told the crowd "He says he knew that!" Then we called Tori up to help with the change back routine. I had two tiny miniature wands and handed one to her. She took it and I asked, "Are you right handed or left handed?" She said "right handed" So I said "Sorry", took it back and gave her the other one. The crowd roared - I had TOO MUCH FUN! Thanks again all so much for your support. And whomever is in charge can move this or tell me where to post this kind of stuff for next time. Shalom |

Tenyo to me is small gadgets that are so clever that they amaze me.
But I recently picked up a Tenyo Crystal Tube Deluxe that is packaged with the Silks from Newspaper ($27 dollars from SEO). The two together are a strong effect and perfect for performing to more than a few people. I performed this at a party during one of the NY Giants Playoff games. I started with a sport page full of Giants pictures and articles and pulled red white and blue silks from it. Then the silks went into the Crystal tube and I asked one of the kids how a team succeeds and he thankfully said "by working together" and I blew the R,W,B silks out of the tube all connected together. Two basically easy tricks to do with some practice of course. My next idea was to put the R,W,B silks into a change bag and then pull out a NY Giants silk, but I did not have a NY Giants silk. Another Un-Tenyo Tenyo Trick I bought recently is Balloon surprise although I have not opened it yet. AA |
