Are there any versions of the Pass that are easier to execute in front of an audience? Its not that I am too lazy to practice the harder versions, I just thought it might take the pressure off using it in a performance for the first time.

Just cut the cards. Keep the tip of your little finger between the halves, pushing the front (visible) edge up (the deck will look normal from the spectator's viewpoint). Cut the cards again.

I think when it comes to the pass the most important thing isn't necessarily the moves and how well they are executed. Its in the misdirection, how well you can take the heat off the deck at the right moment. The Pass is best used on the off beat not when all heat is on the cards. Just my opinion.

I think that Kyle hits it right on the nose. If you misdirect properly, most passes (as long as it's smooth and done in one fluent action) will go undetected. That being said, I find that the turnover pass is much easier for me to execute than a classic pass; however, due to the limitations of the TP (turning the deck over) I would still recommend learning the classic pass first.

A 'Pass' is a type of card control. All 'Passes' are card controls, but not all controls are Passes. It might be helpful to think more in terms of 'controls' as opposed to Passes. You really could go your entire life doing card magic and never miss The Pass. In all of it's forms it is just plain one of the most difficult sleights to do well. There are dozen's of other methods. Some are difficult, but most are fairly easy to execute.

Someone came up to me and asked if I wanted to learn a card control - I said: "No thanks, I'll pass"

That is the worst groaner I've seen on the entire Café, which is saying something.

You should also keep in mind that the pass isn't the only way to control cards. If your doing an effect that could require your spectators to keep there eyes on the deck. I would go about controlling cards with another method to be safe. The pass can be powerful when used correctly but isn't always the best way to go.

I only use two. The bluff pass and the spread pass. Of the two my favorite is the bluff pass.

I agree that the bluff pass is great. The turnover pass also can help since there is movement already built into it. Even when doing these two though, misdirection is still everything. EXTREMENINJA1, have you read or watched anything by Aaron Fisher? He does a detailed explanation of the bluff pass and keeping things simple in Search and Destroy.
