And the crunch time will be April fools day. Either way, that'll work.

None of the following is meant to dishearten any members of RS. Enjoy your magic.
@BatsMagic - Sorry, but you are wrong. I made a successful payment. My payment was accepted, I received a number, I was given access to the site, and two days later after several exchanges of emails my membership was canceled and my money refunded AGAINST MY WISHES and after pointing out their contradictory language. I shall not re-apply. While the child in me would enjoy the anticipation of great magic stuff appearing in my mailbox, I frankly do not need it. The RS Team has proven themselves to be disingenuous to me through the responses made in their emails and their failure to live up to their promise of a one year Platinum membership in return for a one time annual fee. One time is one time. There was no mention of a requirement to maintain the recurring fee that THEY initiated with Paypal (and did give notice that they would.) I shall not do business with people who refuse to change the language in their advertising even after the discrepancies are pointed out and who frankly have treated at least some of us with disrespect. They do not regard us as customers but cling to the notion that we are (or would be) members of a club and that they can accept or reject memberships at will. @MagicSquared - When the first year is paid in full with a one time annual fee, how can they justify canceling the first year (or the remainder of it) when you cancel the payment for the second year in advance? That is not what the language they chose to use means. I suspect they know that but obviously do not care. They have their expected number of subscriptions and are happy. I don't wish to quibble. If you see it differently, then so be it. Honestly, if they had made it clear from the beginning that canceling the recurring future payment was grounds for rejection I never would have subscribed in the first place. Seriously, would anyone subscribe to a magazine whose publisher threatened to cancel his "paid in full" 2012 subscription because he refused to resubscribe automatically for 2013? I could raise other issues about the timing of certain events but I do not wish to speculate without proof. For me, the botton line is that I will not deal with people who have proven themselves untrustworthy.

Bill- Trust me, I do understand all of your points. It's unfortunate that they chose to run their venture this way. I don't like it, but I elected to play by their rules instead of not playing at all. They own the ball and the playing field, so I had to play by their rules, even though they weren't the rules that I have played by for my whole life. I went through the process of signing up 5 times in 2 days, and canceling 5 times, because I didn't like it, before I finally decided to go ahead and do it anyway. I guess it all depends on how badly you want it- I want it bad enough. I feel badly for you, for what it's worth. And the thing is, I'm sure that they KNOW that I cancelled 5 times before accepting their terms. Maybe that's why I have not had a membership confirmation from them 3 days after others started getting them, and 4 days before they start shipping. Maybe I was ultimately refused membership. The thing is, of course, I sure hope not! All the best to you, Bill!

Can someone post when they first get something in the mail?
I'm still not certain I've successfully signed up. |

I'm not sure either- only because I have not received acknowledgement from them this week! No refund either, so where am I?

I received no acknowledgement either. I'm assuming they only confirmed those whose addresses were ambiguous in some way?

Actually, I am having $144.00 worth of fun just watching this whole thing unfold. I predict this thread will surpass the Industrial Revelation thread in number of posts within three weeks.

Whether you joined, didn't join, join and got rejected, whatever, this has been so much fun.
They start shipping on Monday. The first thread started by someone ( I hope me ) will be interesting. If it's great, but the product isn't mentioned, many will be clever and respond "what's the point in posting about a mysterious product you refuse to describe". That will make it all the more fun. |

As a matter of fact, I vanished a basketball while naked in front of my wife, and she freaked out because she had no idea where it went." Would that be OK to say or not? I don't think that a vague description of the effect would be against the rules. What would happen if I performed the effect for a bunch of my magician friends and refused to divulge any info about it to them, except for saying "I got this from Real Secrets, and I think you should join." Then my friend comes on the Café and states "One of my IBM buddies vanished a Harley Davidson Fat Boy while I was sitting on it, and I have no idea where it went. I'm still stumped a week later. He got the method from Real Secrets. I'm joining." I can't stop that from happening, and again, nothing is given away except that the Real Secrets team has a method to vanish a Harley without any curtains or other hiding devices. I'm not sure that I would be the first to go on record with that kind of information, but I can't see the harm in it. |

OK, I just logged into my account, and according to the RS Team, I've now been a member for 5 weeks and 2 days. And counting. Also, under the "Manage my subscriptions" heading, and under the "Current Subscriptions" sub-heading, it reads "Real Secrets". That's right- there seem to be several different subscriptions that will eventually be offered! Hmmmmmm.....

If you are a Real Secrets subscriber and have not yet gotten an address confirmation notice from the gang at RS, you should definitely read this. I just spent a few minutes looking over the Real Secrets Site by logging in under my user name. I clicked on the "Real Secrets" tab under "My Subscriptions", and I found something surprising. Apparently they sent out an address confirmation on Monday the 26th (which I never got as an eMail), and of course, I never replied. Yesterday, the 29th, I got another message concerning my address confirmation which was "???????", which I guess meant "Why don't I answer?" I was able to send them a message through this tab in which I confirmed my delivery address. And actually, I didn't confirm it as much as I supplied my delivery address, because they didn't actually post it for me. Of course, I just did this, so I have no way of knowing if everything is OK. So I would recommend that you log in and look around, find your subscription, and I'm sure that you will see an address confirmation message. If you need more info or I'm not clear about something, feel free to contact me and I'll try to fill you in. I'd like to do it publicly so everyone can see it- I don't want to answer the same questions over and over!
