Very well packaged, but sometimes inconsistent.... Alida was not exactly the best trick of the year

I was a bit disappointed by Zoom. The description of the effect is a bit exagerated and I have avoided using the effect because I have found the reacitions to be a bit blah. This is not to say that other performers wont have success with it in their performances.
Addtionally, I think that performers looking to incorporate a deck vanish as part of a full card routine may find Bill Malones on the loose video useful. It contains the handling for an ungimmicked deck vanish that works beautifully. The other effects on the video are fantastic as well.

Keep shuffling,
Grant

Alida turned me off to any Ben Harris Effects. The effects aren't as good as the packaging.

I really enjoyed Slink. I think it's one of the best things Ben has put out...

Great packaging, but the effects don't match the descriptions.

Zoom is excellent. One of the best ways to hand out your business card!

I have had so many repeat bookings from this effect. Thanks Ben!

BTW: Ben had a great idea for this an another post... make the gimmick up on both sides and you have a second back-up.

Really Haunted was a Doug Edwards effect. I t involved a card that moved on top of the deck.

The effect you are referring to is probably Ben Harris's "Haunted"

Small difference I wording, but two entirely different effects.

To each their own, the only Ben Harris effect I perform is "Haunted" and I find it far from lame -- gets a good audience reaction and isn't the usual card revelation that you see so often.

Ben packages stuff great!, all I can say is it is magic how he packages the items, but I would not ZOOM to the store to get HOODWINKED. I would take the nearest EXIT51 before purchasing ALIDA or his 50buck FLOATING MATCH.

I believe the Original Floating match did sell for $50.

Hi Magic Chris,

Yes, it did.

Originally (1986) the effect was marketed as an exclusive limited to 500 pieces at $50.

The rip-off merchants hopped on board and the trick was ***ized and sold for $5 - $10 by dozens of companies around the world.

This led to the re-introduction of the original at a later date (at a price to meet the pirates head-on).

Naturally this was a very hard decision to make. It was meant to be exclusive.

To this day, we sell about 4000 originals per annum, compared to 20,000 or so rip-offs that are still sold each year.

At least the continuing theft has imortalized the trick. It will still be in catalogs long after I've kicked the bucket!

Ha

Cheers
