With regard to the Priority International shipping cost quoted at $38.

I have ordered a lot of items from U.S dealers and this is by far the highest price I have ever been quoted for shipping via Priority International.

I ordered a fairly large stage prop from a dealer on Sunday night that I needed urgently.
It was sent via Fed Ex Priority and cost me $32.99.
The dealer was very apologetic regarding this high shipping cost but explained if I needed the item urgently this is what it would cost.

I received it this morning. 3 days for delivery - fantastic.

The method is even better than the effect.

If they look under the shirt they will be even more impressed.

I'm curious if there is any possibility or remote danger of damaging the material of someone"s shirt.

There are many fabrics out there and various blends of material content.

Yeah, that is an interesting catch if that does make a difference. I really like how this effect has 3 phases and if they look under the shirt during, it apparently won't blow the effect. Which is always a good thing in magic. They can actually peek behind the 'curtain' for a moment?

Richard took quite a bit of time in the accompanying instruction booklet to explain what fabrics can be used and which can present problems. He also goes into detail as to how to identify a potentially troublesome fabric.

I'll summarize by saying the the number of fabrics that can be used vastly outnumber what cannot be used. When we shot "Live...Without a Net!", we taped the knife performance a number of times with different spectators and Richard never encountered a problem with finding a shirt that would work.

This looks really good. Though, it seems this would only be good for close-up. For parlour setting I am a sucker for Bob Read's Knife Thru Coat- very nice- no gimmicks!

I assume this could not be performed one handed with say a tie?

Wow, that's interesting. But again, this would not be good for parlour or stand up situations.

Cool, but I guarantee my spectators would quickly poke their heads under the cloth in mid-trick.

If they see under the cloth they will be more impressed.

And no one ever claimed that it was. This is obviously a close-up effect. While we're at it, I should point out that, more than likely, this effect also won't be able to be performed on an airplane.

For the other poster who was worried about his spectators looking underneath, they will only see exactly what's happening...the knife penetrating the fabric.

I was going to order it but 31$ to Germany for a 50$ Trick is quite expensive.
Is this a Osterlindmysterie only?

Didn't want to mention that as well Smile

I would be happy to pay $50, but nearly $90 is a little high.

Obviously, customs charges are beyond our control but for those interested, Richard and I have reinstated First Class International shipping which should mitigate the shipping costs on small packages such as the Phantom Knife.
