Ol' Nick was pretty unrecognizable. Liked the attempt to talk about his crows.

Is anyone really watching the Oscars?
Does anyone really care who gets these things besides those who get them? A silent movie up for best picture? What am I missing? I'm sure you'll tell me.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

A silent movie? You mean the one that is one of the best pictures I've seen?
Yes. A lot of us are watching and enjoying them. What's your point? If you don't like them, just change the channel. :) BTW - Billy Crystal is great! |

I think you got my point.
I never went to the channel to begin with. I'm watching the original French Connection. Great movie! Enjoy the show!

Yes. The French Connection is great. Deserved all the Oscars it received!

I watch and enjoy every year.
I also like The French Connection. If the rest of the show sucks tonight, watching Octavia Spencer's acceptance will be worth the evening.

She was great. The whole show, so far, is looking pretty good.

Thanks Lobo, therein lies my problem with the Oscars. A lot of time it does suck. Hey, I love movies, and Bob's right, the French Connection won a lot of Oscars. But it's just the whole staging of it that I find annoying, that's all. I'm not saying "Don't watch the Oscars." I merely find it interesting that folks like to watch celebrities congratulate themselves and drool over each other. And the whole idea of paid sitters for pee breaks has always amused me. And all those expensive givt packages that the attendees receive....like, they really need them? Give all that stuff to charity.

Are you sure you didn't take a peek? Billy Crystal gave special recognition to the seat saver guy. Pretty funny.

Nope, haven't watched a minute of it. Those seat sitters have been public knowledge for years. I wouldn't lie to you Bob.
The French Connection is over and we're now into our next one; the sequel II made a few years later..... I'll admit that I used to watch the Oscars years ago when Johnny Carson hosted. I'd say when he stopped hosting, I stopped watching. Though Billy Crystal is a geat comedian. He was wonderfully good on SNL when he was on.

I like watching the Oscars. A lot of times, I get to see clips from films I will never see which makes in interesting.
Also, sometimes it's just fun to watch people on stage either performing admirably or making a train wreck on the stage.
