I just want to thank everyone for this thread. All this great input has only added to my wish list!

Once again like all things modern it becomes "look at me, how clever I am" Absolutely! You wring maximum impact out of this effect with a borrowed ring, preferably a wedding band. A ring with a heavy stone will throw the balance off and you will feel gravity pull the heavier part of the ring downward as you slide it on the wand or stick. This might not bother some but it bugs me. I suppose it's alright to use your own silver or gold band provided the spectator is allowed to thread it on the wand/stick at least once at the beginning. Of course, it won't stay that way for long. |

I perform this all the time with my own ring. I was tired of the flimsy thin multiply puzzle multiple like rings. I wanted a ring that does the job. because the ring and stick are examinable no effect is lost. one of my favorate routines.

Let's not forget John Carney's reworking with a straw.

I learned Jim Ryan's version from Jerry Mentzer's Magic With Finger Rings. Excellent responses to the routine!

Dears, have anyone mentioned the excellent version of Flip (taught on World Greatest Magic : finger ring on rope), Supenpapos !
Also I remember reading (or viewing ??) a ring on stick routine involving a napkin I believe, one of the phase involved a fake take of the ring laying on the table that would lead to the ring appearing under the napkin. -> would anyone be able to point me to this material ? |

I don't think I've seen this thread before. I've always used the one-ring version from Hugard's "Modern Magic Manual" - similar to Vernon and Al Koran's handlings. I normally use a wand but I have done it informally with a pencil. I always use my own ring.

This looks nice. Jonathan Kamm. He gives credit to Daryl in the comments.

Curtis Kam has ”work” and thoughts on it on lecture on Reelmagicmagazine which Kozmo would be happy to tell you is the best deal in magic. In this case for sure he’s right, subscribe just for this lecture. Of course everything Curtis does is pretty sweet looking.

Performed this three times just last night at my weekly residency. Yes, it does illicit gasps. I use the “extra something” method as it makes the effect that much stronger

I really like to combine ring on stick with a ring on rope routine. Especially for close up situations I like to use usual objects as a stick instead of a wand.
Teller said in an interview he uses a rose, which is very suave. Other workable options might be a twig with blossoms or leaves, wooden kitchen spoon, large screw driver (with a nut as ring option e.g.) Recently I saw a parlour/stage routine using a knitting needle which was incorporated in a wonderful storytelling.
Sincerely,

Sol Stone's routine has been mention here a number of times as being a good routine. Everything used may be borrowed. Right now (7-5-24) until Tuesday (7-9) Meir Yedid has a download of Sol performing and explaining his routine for $4.50 (regularly $5.95).
See it here: https://www.mymagic.com/l/digital-video/......ol-stone I have no connection with Meir or his site other than purchasing a product or three from him and being totally satisfied with his service.
The artist formally known as Mumblepeas!
