OK - I fly to Toronto in two days and have half of Friday to get to see Morrissey and Browsers. I arrive at YYZ at 1236 and will take the shuttle to my hotel (Delta Hotel Toronto Airport West - 5444 Dixie) Anybody with the afternoon off that might pick me up and hang out, I'll buy you a coffee, heck - I'll buy you a beer!
My three days of meetings start about 1730 back at the Delta. If no ones is available - I'll much with public transport. Thanks all. |

Rik,
If you cannot get a local (sorry, I'm not local) to help you out, the best thing to do would be to call the hotel you're staying at and ask them to get the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) routes to get you to the magic shops. Give the hotel the addresses that you are trying to get to and they should be able to help you out if it is possible. Unfortunately, Toronto is REALLY tourist UNFRIENDLY when it comes to public transit. They have been arguing for years to try and get a rail line from the airport (which is in Mississauga) to downtown Toronto without any luck. Your hotel is also in Mississauga and the TTC may not even go there, although there is some overlap. They currently are arguing over subway or light rail transit in another part of the city and the mayor and his cohorts are duking it out with others on the council just spinning their wheels. The bus system may as well be in Martian when it comes to understanding it, unless you use it regularly and know what buses to get on and off. It may be, that even though the magic shop is only about 15 to 20 kilometers away from your hotel, you cannot get there and back using public transit in the time you have and the cost of a taxi may be more than it is worth. You might consider renting a car. Still, hope you can make it somehow and wish you good luck! |

Good luck Rik, wish I was off. For many years I traveled to Toronto from N.S. regularly and stops at the shops were always a highlight.
You might check the Delta to see if they have a shuttle service. John |

Great visit to both stores yesterday. What follows are my first hand, first impression, just my opinions recount.
1- I wish I had had more time 2- Both were worth visiting 3- Both had some of the things on my list to purchase and to take back to Fredericton 4- Both didn't have some of the things on my lists, bummer 5- Dan performed for me and my benevolent "chauffeur" (a fellow committee member here for the same meetings I am in). My chauffeur ended up buying The Colouring Book as well as Little Bunny's Card Trick. Maybe we have a new budding magician here. Thanks Dan for the great demos. I should have bought that last illusion. 6- The Den too was interesting. No demos but I met a nice young man who was a customer. Shared a routine with him. Fun. 7- If I lived in the area I am sure I would spent way too time in both establishments. As well as spend way too much money. Thanks. |

Rik,
I'm glad you managed to make it out to both shops, and it's good to know that you found both worth your time. We're very lucky in the Toronto area to have the luxury of having two good brick-and-mortar shops. I hope that the next time you visit you can spend more time in one or both of them. Incidentally, if you are going to be in town and know of something specific you want, I'm sure you could contact one store or the other ahead of time and they'd order it in for you. Sammy
