So I've seen a few move and routines with ribbons that are quite nice, and, obviously, some nice ring on string routines, mainly with the larger rings, but I'm looking for some ideas and moves that would work well with specifically a necklace and a finger ring. Any suggestions?
Thanks

What would the necklace be made of?
Is it of fine links or bigger links? Herring Bone, Rope, etc? Is it metal at all? |

The one I have is metal, somewhat thin, but not like a string.

You going to have issues with sound using a metal necklace/chain.

Jay Sankey's "Leaving Home" has some good work for you. It can be done with a securely closed loop. You will have more options if the ends can be opened. Is that your plan?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5zkgOi7hgY I've tried it with chain of various sorts but the texture of chain catches and noise is a problem. I wanted chain that approximated the chain in the "Lord of the Rings" movies. From a distance a gold or silver cord may give the impression of jewelry. Not all necklaces are chain any way. I currently us a loop of smooth cording and a finger ring. Good luck, I'd be interested if you do find a good chain for this. -Mary Mowder |

Noise is the potential problem.
I've experimented with a beaded chain without the results I want. A thin chain would seem to make less noise and allow more moves. I suggest that you try some moves, and there are several, and see what you come up with. |

When I played around with it, I didn't find the noise to be any real concern. Unfortunately Sankey's routine wouldn't really work as I need to do this with a borrowed finger ring.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. It is helping. I think I'll have to pick up Ringleader.

Does the "necklace" have to be metal? Why not make something that looks like a lanyard. then you're open to a slew of possibilities.
If you're looking for a straight ring on necklace effect, this on is mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XT6Q_Dyb9......AAAAABAA |

Mary Mowder referenced a great little routine from Jay Sankey that I like as well, which is 'Leaving Home'. Ring Leader from Greg Wilson is also very good.
Sean Fields has a ring flight called Northbound that uses a borrowed ring and your necklace - quite clean and it looks good. I am surprised I have not seen the David Regal Ring Chain mentioned here. This is a great effect that actually uses a jeweler-made chain. As David says, think of this as a card-to-wallet, where the card is a ring and the wallet is a chain. I think you can even use this for other on/off phases, but I am not sure. You can check with David Regal, who is a member here on this forum. http://davidregal.com/uncategorized/the-regal-ring-chain The only thing I would suggest about borrowing/using small (read: thin) rings: Skip them, and rings with diamonds in them. Borrow a plain band or a finger ring like most men would wear, like a signet or sports/school class ring. Not only will it be much more sturdy, but you will also not have to worry about losing valuable stones and the rings will be a little more visible. |

Actually Northbound is similar to where I am taking this.
That is, I have an effect with the ring appearing on my necklace around my neck, and what I was planning was to use the necklace off my neck for a ring on string routine, then put the necklace away, move on with something else with the ring, ending with a call back with the ring appearing on my necklace around my neck.

Do you already own Northbound?

No actually, however Sean and I have brainstormed/gone back and forth on a few effects, including the ring to necklace, which I showed him my idea after I purchased his original Flight 204. This was actually just before he released Northbound actually.
