Somebody obviously doesn't like me out there.
Rectified in about 2 minutes though thanks to Paul Voodini giving me a heads up. Now seriously guys, if the culprit frequents this forum then please - pm me because I'll give you my home address and we can sort this out face to face - and I know who will win then. I thought these sabotage activities were more for large corporations not folk who make spooky props for a living. Anyway - onwards and upwards! Darkly Dan |

Have you checked its not some malicious virus on your computer? You may have picked something up that's just floating around the web.

Yes, checked that. I had some friends from my days in forensics analyse it for me, nothing to report. My web host is also looking into it for me.

What was your password like? Was it changed regularly? If not, it's a static target and the most obvious way in.

I hope it's not someone who's singled you out and targeted you directly. Can't see what anyone would have to gain.

This sounds like a key logger problem
This is malicious code on your client desktop that records passwords Could be on the desktop of anyone with access to your site So when they log into FTP the bad guys can see your credentials These attacks are often automated, they like to put redirects on your site that point where they want |

I feel your pain. Someone just hacked my PayPal account, then one of my email accounts, both Yahoo addresses. Fortunately I was able to stop the PayPal transfer in time, as it was substantial. Seems like guys with the chops to do this could make a lot of money in legitimate businesses. Go figure.

Hey guys,
Your EMAIL PASSWORD is key, this is how people can bootstrap into all your other accounts, and even change your passwords and lock you out. Change your email password often, use a capital letter and a number with 8 to 12 characters Bad guys have automated servers that scan word combinations. If you look at server logs you will see this all the time. These attacks are often automated, so be careful of just combining 2 words like "magicman" this will be cracked |

There are some people out there as malicious as these viruses. It astonishes me as I did think the bizarre community was a much friendlier and less !@#$%y community than the general magic one and in the case of the majority - it is. I have recently come across a few bad eggs in the bizarre world, whether it's people who freely plagarises someone else's hard work, uploads stuff to file sharing sites or someone who is out to put other performers down, they are there.
This is a cowardly way of doing things but whoever did it will be found out in the end. |

I'm glad everything is back to normal now, Dan.
Did you still want me to fetch that bucket of rancid halibut gibblets? |
