If you could train with either Justin Tranz of Geoff Ronning, which would you rather train with and why? I've got the change to train with one of these guys within the next month or two. I've heard Justin is the best stage hypnotist working today. I've heard Geoff is good but an excellent business man. Hard decision!
PS - If anyone here has attended a training event by either of these gentleman, please share your experience! |

Ronning the business stuff you will learn is awesome, if you have a show but cannot book it then you don't really have a show.

Ronning hands down. Not even a second thought. Tranz is a performer, but I wouldn't train with him.

I've been thinking Ronning as well. I think Justin is a better performer but I need to learn how to book as many shows as possible and market myself and so on. Although, Justin has said to include in his training...
-Marketing Your Hypnosis Stage Show Or Hypnotherapy Business -Get On TV And Radio. -Get A Las Vegas Comedy Stage Hypnosis Show Tomorrow -Booking College, Carnival, Corporate, Cruise Ships, And Comedy Clubs Markets (high schools too) PS - I realize more people are familiar with Ronning's training as it is held more often. You can find out more about Justin's Training here... http://www.justintranz.com/learn-hypnosis-2012/ |

I like Justin as a performer but would definitely not consider him the best working hypnotist today by any means.

I have never done a live hypnosis training with Ronning but own seven of his products, the higher dollar ones as well I have taken his mentor ship program
I am a full time working stage hypnotist in the real world, not in Vegas where you basically have to do four walls. no offense meant to vegas performers at all, Ronning teaches real world stuff and I learned a lot. On top of that ronning offers the Stage hypnosis center which is an awesome resource for stage hypnotists and the info there is worth its weight in gold. Ronning may not have the best flashiest show but it suits his markets, he is safe for corporate work which is where the real money is and he can teach you how to make real money. for me personally its not about having the best hypnosis show its about pleasing the person who hires me period. Best is a relative term, you can not do dirty shows in the corporate market where people are humping their chairs and get away with it for very long. I personally don't think a ronning show would do well in vegas either but I do know he would adapt it to fit the audiance. I am a little biased because I make my living with what ronning has taught me.

Having a Vegas show is only impressive to those who are not from Las Vegas. You are correct Vegas is a pay to play town for sure, with very, very few exceptions.
I'm sure that's what Justin will tell you as to how to immediately get your own Las Vegas show. i.e. the old saying - What's the best way to end up with a million dollars in Las Vegas? Answer: Start with two million dollars. |

I figured that's what Justin's advice would be... 4 wall at a hotel or theater, try to two wall if you can. As for his advice on getting Highschools and Colleges (the two markets that appeal to me the most)... well, has Justin ever even worked these markets?
I have a feeling his business advice would be pretty standard stuff. Hopefully, Ronning will be providing a nice step by step system to follow for booking shows in various markets. I'm at a point now where I'm wanting to try and go pro performing hypnosis. Part time for now and then later full time. I'm thinking Roniing's traning will be the way to go for this. I'll learn a decent show but more importantly, I'll learn how to turn that show into money! Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys! It is greatly appreciated. If you have anything else to share please do! Anyone else is welcome to chime in as well. Thanks again guys! |

Pardon my ignorance, can you tell me what these mean:
"To four wall it" = hire a theatre to put on your show? (If google is correct) "To two wall it" = (I couldn´t find a definition). thankyou.
If you never fail, you're not trying hard enough.

Owen,
Four walling involves renting a club, space, or theater and doing the advertising and promoting yourself, as well as ticket sales. You take all or part of the ticket money, depending on your arrangement with the venue. One extreme example of this is In Las Vegas. Almost all showroom performers rent the casino showroom, either with their own production companies or in partnership with a producing entity. Two walling means you split the profit/loss equally with the venue. If it’s a theater, you simply split rent and ticket money. If it’s a club, you might consider taking the door ticket money while the club gets the drinks and food. Hope those explanations make a bit of sense as to the differences. |

if you really want to get started quickly go get the service club program from the stage hypnosis center you can use it for a lot more than just service clubs and it will return again and again and again for you.

You are correct I am offering the cart before the horse sorry about that, got quite ahead actually. I suggest the live training then buy the service club program.
Once again I apologize

Yes, I do want some good training. I've learned hypnosis via books and videos, done a few shows that went... ok. I'm thinking to really get to where I want to be, some actual hands on training and show planning, etc with someone who really knows what they are doing, would be ideal.
Then after I'm better and have a better show, I'll work on marketing it. Surely, this part will be covered at the training as well. Is the service club program specfic to stage hypnosis? I'm asking because I've been a magician and mentalist for years and as such would love to know if the information in this program could help me book more shows in those areas as well. Thanks for all your thoughts and guidance thus far guys. It is greatly appreciated! |

Don't assume marketing or the business is part of all hypnosis training as it typically has not been. Only in the past several years has this seemed to be included and even then only minimally. I do suggest and support live, hands-on trainings, but I also believe in personal one on one tutoring or coaching training from a working professional. Ideally both would be great and really assist you in getting to where you want to be. Tutoring/Coaching isn't discussed much around here but it does have a decent role in learning as well as doing.

Justin Tranz emailed me just a couple days ago kindly inviting me to guest at his course in Edinburgh 30th March to 1st April.
Strangely enough that weekend I have a gig in Miami (I believe that's HIS hometown)! I've heard what everyone else is saying about the professionalism of Ronning so it simply has to be true. But I do like the Style of Justin. The man can run a show, that's for sure.

I'm a big fan of Justin's style too. He's a great showman, in my opinion. I'm not sure how much business is gonna be included in his course and how good the advice will be though.

Yes, I like Justin too, but he has a rather casual approach towards his teaching from what I'm told, which could be easily misconstrued by the overeager, younger newcomers. I think it's easy to focus on his hip, casual delivery, and not see the true skill and mechanics at work behind it all. He does do a great show.
