After learning Submerge off of the Metal 3 DVD I have really got the taste to learn some other versions also, anyone know another great routines with gaffes or non gaffes?
Who does the best you've seen? |

Defininately study all you can find. Each one seems to have a subtle difference or two that you might want to incorporate in your OWN routine. When I want to learn a routine, I try to find all the resources available and do each routine EXACTLY as the particular magician so I get the gist of each one. Yeah, this takes a LOT of time, but worth it for the insights and developing your own style. And with all that handling your sleights get better and the gestalt of the routine is better understood.
If you start with Slydini, you'll begin an historical journey. There is a lot of material avaible for this routine: Roth, of course; Rubinstein; Gallo---who popularized a great kicker at the end; Kam, including his valuable comments; Ouellet---with an astonishing finish; you mentioned Jones; don't forget Neighbors (he probably has 15 handlings); and the list goes on! Watkins, Brewer, McClintock, et al. Whew! IF you're willing to do your research, you're in for quite ride! BTW , that's as in reSEARCH---there is a lot of knowledge here.

I might get in trouble with some of my buddies.
But I like Gallo generally as a top coin guy and incorporating his kicker is sweet. Slydini as a master, for his misdirection tips. Kam's handling is so smooth and he incorporates a sound effect used quite often now, same with Petty on his Split happens DVD---I believe Jones does that also. Neighbors does everything well, but haven't SEEN his routine. My buddy Lam does a stunning routine, very smooth and audible. He starts with a different palm than I do. And he used bits from some other Slydini routines. Yes, he's unknown and does it his way. I started doing CTT using ideas from Bobo's using various sleights. So my hybrid version is always evolving. And Feher, he posts here, he has a couple versions I really like.

Ok Atom I guass I will have to show some of them to you when I am back there in April! Or Put then on the tape for you!
And S.K. If you don't mind seting down? I have a Handleing in my Coinjurering book ( 1978) Where you put a glass under the table. And then BOTH hands stay on top of the table, And you put the 4 coins through the table one at a time. And you HEAR them fall Through one at a time! It's called Super Tap!:) |

Troy Hooser has a nice version that uses a flipper coin - very clean and convincing.

Mr. Kong, If you have a split coin, you can learn Petty's handling pretty quick.

James Lewis' Coins Through Glass Top Table is one of the best I've seen over the years. I believe he published it as a separate pamphlet.

My favorites have been Roth and Rubinstein for years now. The "Through The Glass Table" was a favorite until The Masked Magician (Valentino?) exposed it. That was one of the best I've ever seen. A style of use (gaffs) I had not seen before.
Had The MM not revealed it, that one would have fooled me completely! Oh well... Doug |

Must admit I really like Submerge by Eric Jones but after reading all your posts and you tubing them there are so many great ones. I really like Mr Roths stuff also, problem is I get carried away and end up watching the whole DVD again of all his coin magic lol! Doesn't help with learning but dam that man is good. |

Submerge is a wonderful routine and I also really enjoy it. I have also used most of the ones listed above - all to great effect.
One more I will add to the list is the Milt Kort Coins Through Table. Nathan Kranzo does a stand-up version of that particular handling called Will The Kort Please Rise. |

I'll have to take a look at Mr Kranzo then, I had a DVD of his some time ago but can't think what it was called? All coin routines though.
I'm glad to hear you also like Submerge , my only struggle with this routine is the fake take of the coins off the table! It always feels a bit awkward for me to get that looking natural . I don't know why after all I do lots of coin magic but never had a move feel so strange to do , Mr Jones just does it so well!! Maybe I over analyse my self lol. |
