Hi Marty
Thanks for your post. I know that you were not knocking the product, but The Balloon Zapper is special. I have sourced it, and adapted it to create a fun magical and strong routine with it. BUT IT IS NOT JUST THE ZAPPER YOU ARE PURCHASING - Its the WHOLE Effect. If I had personally manufactured the prop, then the cost of the trick would probably be £350 each. Why is everything about the cost of the materials? As I said before a pack of Bicycle cost £1, but when you receive you wonderful new £25 card effect with 1 gimmick card at 2 pence, and the shiny DVD at 10 pence, do I hear you go on about it?......I think not.... Good luck to anyone who goes out and tries to produce my effect themselves. First of all it's stealing my idea, and secondly you still have to know how to gimmick all the props. The verbiage for my effect says it how it is. The effect is exactly how it is written. Here it is again with some quotes from TOP PROFESSIONALS who know a thing or two about entertainment: Inflated Odds is a hilarious comedy routine in which a prediction envelope is shown. A coloured balloon is freely chosen and placed into a special balloon zapper. The spectator spins the zapper chamber and the balloon is put to the magicians ear....It does not burst. This continues until the magician predicts that it will go off and then pointing away from the ear the magician or spectator fires the zapper and it explodes. The envelope is opened and inside not only does a Prediction predict the COLOUR of the balloon, but also WHEN the balloon bursts. Routines for Adults, Teen & Kids, Comes complete with Balloon Zapper, Envelope & Balloons. QUOTES: "What a fantastic idea! Inflated Odd's is one of the best Russian Roulette routines I've ever seen AND it's safe. There is fun, dramatic tension and a staggering prediction...what more could you want. This is a really flexible and commercial routine. Well done Darryl, great thinking" - Marc Paul "Never have I seen such a perplexing prediction with a piece of prophylactic. Perfect!" - Max Somerset "It's gonna add a BANG to my show!" - Mark Shortland "A kooky prop with a simple plot makes 'Inflated Odds' a unique and entertaining effect for your show!" - Angelo Carbone "A sure fire winner! It's in my show" - Christian Lee "It has the makings for a classic and fun routine for both adults and children alike" - Spyros Melaris "I like it, I like it, I like it" - Jack Delvin, President of The Magic Circle "It's Brilliant" - Dave Allen "A fabulous commercial Routine" - Jerry O' Connell "You fooled me" - Michael J Fitch "It's a FUN routine - Ali Bongo would have loved it too" - Paul Daniels What more can I add? All the best Darryl |

I don't NEED a routine, but it is nice to see were the trick is going base don someones else's thinking. Also, there is nothing wrong with using an existing script. As Jim Steimeyere refers to in his book understanding and technique. Jim basically says (paraphrasing) why not use the script that has been working? There is nothing wrong if it works, so share. People have been using the same script for a variety of tricks that are over 100 years old, why? well becaus eit works. if you have something that works, share the wealth especially of you're selling the trick on the market. Show me why this is worth the money. I am definitely not a lazy magician. I script most of my effects from scratch and I pride myself on scripting, but again show me in what direction you're going with this effect and hopefully I can take it for spin in my direction.

Hi Darryl,
Like I said, I like the look of this. But it is expensive at £35 to me because I wouldn't perform it that often. However, if I was performing stage/parlour events more often then I agree it would be a steal. Still I might get it because I like the inherent comedy in the situation the routine creates. Quote:
First of all it's stealing my idea I agree. This would be morally wrong. I was not suggesting that people buy the zapper on its own without buying your package first. However, if someone wanted a backup, or a "normal" zapper for switching purposes, then buying direct from Amazon would make sense. Personally, I think it would be better if creators were more transparant about what you get for your money. Again, I'm not debating the price of your package, I agree it is cheap if you use it regularly. Marty |

Oh man, is this what it's coming to? Give me strength... Sean, I'm not sure what you mean by this. I was simply making sure there was no bad feeling regarding me posting about the zapper being available on Amazon. I've not been asking Darryl to defend his product, he doesn't have to. And if you've had enough of this discussion why make such a pointles post? Marty |

Not the cost of the props, the inclusion of a routine and certainly not the price he wants to charge. Magic is an art and you're buying a piece of work by an artist. You're not buying a kettle from the store that you might be able to get cheaper on amazon. If you want it buy it and if you don't, don't but what's truely pointless is all the whinging. And please don't spend ages putting everything I've said in quotes and making a point by point rebuttal. Like I said its pointless. Move on. Happy days Fonzie |

Darryl,
I love it (and PM'd you to say so). I got this idea after seeing the props for Inflated Odds. And since a few have requested a routine, I've posted it in Secret Sessions. I've removed all reference to "the work". If for ANY reason you object, please let me know and I'll request to have it removed or report it. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=37 |

I have been fortunate to know Darryl Rose for quite some time. I have always found that he has the "Professional Eye" when it comes to performing. In his release, INFLATED ODDS, he shares a quirky prop and a few performance ideas that are compelling. I can see using this for children as well as a light-hearted adult's show.
The fun of the "game" along with the prediction concept make this a winner. Whenever a pro offers something out of his own show, you can bet that it will be a great starting point for you to develop your own memorable presentation. Enjoy the Search! Respectfully, Paul Green |
