Has anyone used their iPad in a show to control their music?
Have you used any remote control apps? Do you find any advantages / disadvantages to using the iPad instead of the iPod? |

I just purchased Soundslate. Looks interesting. I have also figured out that my Ijet works on my iPad, so I can control it remotely.

Well I may have spoken too soon about the Ijet. It appears to be unreliable in my testing of it. The Ijet was bought before iPads were on the market. They were made for the iPods, so I suppose it shouldn't surprise me that it doesn't work perfectly.

On either iPhone or Android, look up "custom soundboard". There are several apps that will let you assign sounds to various buttons on the screen. Some are free, others are cheap.

I know a magician that uses tango remote to control his music. The iPad is at the sound board and his phone is on stage. It works through blue tooth. I have not tried but might in the future. I use a iCue2 so as long as it works I will keep using but thought about ordering this for a back up.

Tony,
The iJet should work with the iPad. Try this: 1. Connect the iJet receiver to the bottom of the iPad BEFORE connecting your cable to the headphone socket. 2. Wait for 10 seconds. 2. Connect the cable to your headphone socket. If you do this in this order the iJet should work 100% Cheers Gary |

Thanks Gary - I'll keep experimenting. I hope it does work 100%.
Tim- the Tango remote is an app that is used in both the iPad and the iPhones. It allows your I phone to work like a remote controlling the music playing off your iPad. It looks pretty cool, but I have a droid (at this point). For folks with an iPhone and iPad it seems like a great solution, or at least an option to consider. |

Hey Gary,
I just tried it as you described and it worked. I was ready to give up on the iJet. Thanks... |

I have not used the tango app. I have thought about downloading it as a back up. I did see a performer use tango last week. He was a singer did different things with the kids. It worked like a charm and he kept his phone on a music stand and no one knew he was controlling the music.

This is not exactly the same thing but you might find it interesting. What I do is place my Ipad or Iphone on my performing table and connect it vie bluetooth to my sound system using this device from Logitech:

The iJet works great. Easy to use and cheap - surely the best bet for 99% of the performers on magic Café (actually probably all, but I though I'd make a few of you who like to spend $$$ feel like the 1%)!

At Downtown Disney a few weeks ago, there was a group named Nova Era performing around the Pleasure Island area. Their "director" was playing, mixing, and equalizing the music via an iPad acting as a wireless "client" computer off his laptop via a remote terminal-type connection.
What I am getting at is that, with an arrangement like this, you could use any PC software you wanted on your PC, and just use the tablet as a "dumb terminal".
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

Fortunately, the app has been designed to work with a custom programmed RF remote available at http://www.conjuringcabinet.com/showcues

What's custom about it? It seems to work fine with a standard iJet?
