I got my copy of this book today. I love it. It looks, smells (like herbal tea) and feels old. It looks like a real book out of 1938. I told my mom that it really wasn't that old and she couldn't believe it, she really thought that I had bought an old witches book (not unusual for a wiccan priest).
The workings are utterly simple, so more to work on your presentation. I can tell you that the book of itself can be used as a full evening show, but I suggest that you don't use it for that. You receive 5 nicely aged cards, marked, and once you know how, the cards are easily read. I love everything about this book. The best magic buy I did in 2012. |

So I take it that this occult item doesn't conflict with your faith at all, cirrus?
I'd love to see your presentation of this. Outlaw puts out some of the prettiest props.
All small town magicians know what 793.8 signifies.

This occult item could be part of my faith, that's the beauty of it. That's why I ordered it. With the right presentation it can be as light as it can be. I've got another oracle book (Oculatum: http://oculatum.com/bookhome.htm) and I thought this could play really well.

Uhu. Oculatum is an ungimmicked oracle book (not in use for magic effects). The Dekkie reminded me of this and that's how I'm going to play it too. I can type up the story inside the oculatum here if you want me too. it has an interesting story.

"After the spanish conquered Antwerp (Belgium) in 1585, a few weavers escaped to London. In their bagage, which were only very few items, were old wisdoms and these aphorisms were used very much, verbally and written on pamplets, almanacs and on scrap paper. They all are compiled into this work,.... (place name of almanac you are using), a source of protection and wisdom."
Translated this myself from the cover of the oculatum. Could be used to introduce the WA. Here is the history written inside (also translated by me: In september 1666 was London destroyed by a huge fire. A surface of 182 hectare was burned to the ground, there were 10 deadly victims and 69 churches were destroyed. The inferno raged days and the residents could only watch how their metropolis was put to ashes about half. A lot of metropolitans tried to stay into the monastery in Blackheath, east of London. Mixed with the metropolitans was a family of Flemish inheritance, who knew deprivation. Head of the family was Joseph Van der Lippen. 90 years before, in 1575, his great-grandfather Johannes, lead a similar group to England, to find shelter against the Inquisition. Joseph Van der Lippen bear an old memento with him, inherited by his great-grandfathers. Hij consulted it regularly because it gave him strength, hope and consolation. The memento was a very small book, that could be read in a lot of different ways. Because it was compiled out of loose leafs of papers, the order of the pages could be changed. It contained many writings and was rough and used a lot. It contained a lot of thoughts and wisdom. It was (the almanac you use). Original the wise aphorisms en thoughts only verbally handed down, but once they were written and collected to be read in time of need. With the invention of bookprinting a lot of copies were spread allover Europe." |

Can somebody read through this and edit out all the mistakes that I have made by translating this? (maybe I used a few wrong words). This is the story used in a the oculatum a real almanac, so you can use it to give your WA a real story. I'm going to use this, to give the WA a more Belgian story.
