Sad news: actor William Finley died at the age of 69 in his home in NYC.
The man's filmography isn't that extensive, but the parts he played were memorable, and that's the only legacy an actor can hope for. I vividly recall first seeing Brian de Palma's Phantom of the Paradise (released in 1974) back in 1982 at a school projection: it scared the hell out of me (I was 11) and I think it must have been the first time I became aware of how fear could simultaniously repulse and attract. The perfect casting opposition of Finley and Paul Williams was spot on, and I totally connected with his portrayal of the sweet Winslow Leach slowly descending into Inferno (buuurn, baby burn). So here's to William Finley!
The Epiphany Before Christmas: this day (12/23/13) I leave the Café for good!

He was also Marco the Magnificent in Tobe Hooper's THE FUN HOUSE.
