Just a quick note to let you know that the Three Shell Game is alive and well in Las Vegas.
April 9, 2012. Pedestrian bridge between Caesar’s Palace and Bellagio. Shell Game crew using cheap folding table, 3 white plastic water bottle caps and a red pea. Mark was taken down for $200. Cry of “Fold it up!” Operator and crew dissolved into the swarming crowds, quickly replaced by a table selling knock-off Gucci sunglasses. I was astonished to see it all happen in this day and age… but there it was.

My parents saw a monte thrower when they went to Vegas a few months ago, luckily I had shown them how the game worked before they went so they knew not to get scammed.

I'm from the Vegas are and have seen both the Monte and shell game done. I've seen both the Monte and shell game done on the bus that services Tropicana Ave. I've seen the the three card monte in various places along the strip. The walk ways in front or near many of the casino's It is very much alive here.

Up to about 5 years ago it seemed like I'd see them mostly during the winter holiday season and a bit afterwards. Now it's any time of the year. There was a a rumor last year that the Monte and shell workers had been run out of town but. I had never seen any signs of that happening. I'm not sure what the penalty for operating the games in Vegas is if caught. But I've heard it's not much more than a fine of a few hundred dollars and perhaps a night in jail. So it's not really much of an incentive to stop doing it in Vegas.

Interesting, I've lived in Las Vegas for 5 years now and before moving here visited a couple of times a year for the last 30 years....never seen the monte or shell anywhere here!
You see lots of crazy stuff both on the strip and on Fremont Street downtown..... time for a bridge tour! |

One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.

Try looking around Planet Hollywood often times they well be set up by the escalators that take you to the over head bridge. |

Look for construction areas with foot traffic. If you think about it, you will understand why. You will often find crews in Vegas working these areas. I don't know about other cities.

I'm told the games are going on in back alleys of San Francisco. Con artist, shill, muscle, "look out" and smoother. The last one claiming to be another mark who is gonna buy the current mark a drink so he forgets it.
