I thought I'd start a new topic on the new eBook, as I have only told you about the raffle for free copies before in another thread. Now - as I am the creator of this manuscript - I am really looking forward to read your honest opinion.
EGGstremely Dangerous has just been released to the (magic) public and is available directly from me and http://www.lybrary.com exclusively. So if you happen to have read it, pleaase let me know what you think! Best regards Stefan |

I bought this manuscript from Stefan as soon as it was released. It is a great plot with a simple method you will enjoy performing.
I intend to change part of the method, just to suit myself, but there is no need. Eggstremely will suit mentalists who perform for family groups or corporate events. |

I liked this, very easy to do, and could be a hit in any audience. Congrats, Stefan!
However I just wished it's clear in the description that you need to buy some magic gimmicks to make this work. I believe there was no mention re the gimmicks. I said that because unfortunately those gimmicks, after searching in magic shops here, is not readily availabe in my country. |

Hi Ony,
maybe you received the original version, which was not updated - only hours after the inital release I added new version containing a description of how you could indeed perform the routine without any special props. Just PM me and we'll sort out any problems. And thank you so much for your comment on the routine. Yes, it really plays great, especially with famiy audiences. Stefan |

I wrote my thoughts to Stefan in a PM and he asked me to post them here. So here goes:
I read Chris' description of the effect and it made me laugh out loud. My wife wanted to know what the fuss was and so I read her the description and she thought it was clever as well...and so I ordered it. You're right in your conclusion: there's nothing really new in the method -- but the presentation (always of more interest to me) is very clever indeed. My initial thought was that it would be made stronger if one actually blindfolded the volunteer prior to pouring the last cup out over his head. (Perhaps there's a way the performer could convey that even he doesn't know which glass holds the egg. Maybe if lids are put over the styrofoam cups and he CRUSHES them over the head of the volunteer?) My second thought is that plastic cups are instantly suspect...but you dealt with that in your script. I'd definitely use paper or styro cups...not for the economy...but because they would appear to be more ordinary looking. Third: Those are a LOT of props to pack up for a show. That's what I don't like about the routine. That's a problem...as is transporting a real egg and a fragile shell to the show (by car or plane...etc.) I think your prompt lines and nuances are brilliant. Love them. They are worth the cost of the routine alone. My last thought: there's no real surprise here. The audience must know, on some level, that there's no way a performer would actually pour an egg on the head of an audience member...so much of the drama is lost. The written prediction at the end is a marginal improvement...but the effect really needs a kicker to make it fly. I am not sure what that would be: the production of a rubber chicken maybe? But the lack of a surprise at the end (and its prop heavy nature), is what I don't like about the effect. It turns out exactly as the audience expects it would. That's the real problem. Still -- I really like the routine and I enjoyed reading it. There is certainly food for thought here...and good work as well. I offer these thoughts to you with respect...because you asked. Thank you for sharing it with the community!

David,
thank you very much for your honest review - I really appreciate that you took the time to analize the script and also share your critical thoughts. Yes, I think the point you mention is valid and is a weakness in all the russian roulette type routines - the missing kicker. Nobody really thinks you'll actually harm yourself or the spectator. Even Derren Brown doesn't get around this weak point in Svengali even though he also adds a preciction ending. But I honestly think the comic elements together with the prediction kickder I added will render this concdern obsolete Regards Stefan |
