Lets keep Roy Horn of "Siegfried and Roy" in our hearts. As many of you may already know, Roy was attacked viciously by one of his tigers tonight. He is in critical condition. Smile

What a terrible tradegy this was for all involved. I really hope Roy will recover fully and my deepest sympathties go out to Seigfried.

I also feel so bad for the entire staff of 267 members involved with the show and their families. As we all know the magic community is very close and we support each other in times of happiness as well as times of tradegy. My heart goes out to all involved.

Just wanted all of us remember that Roy was doing what he loved when this happened...

Famed Las Vegas magician Roy Horn of the "Siegfried and Roy" duo remains in critical but stable condition after being mauled by a white tiger during a performance on his 59th birthday, this past Friday at the Mirage Casino Hotel in Las Vegas.

Horn's initial surgery ended at 11:30 p.m. Friday night and a hospital source said that Horn had to be resuscitated during that surgery. Horn then suffered a stroke and was returned to surgery at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to relieve pressure on his brain.

The 7-year-old male white tiger, named Montecore, grabbed Horn's forearm about halfway into the Friday night performance, witnesses said.

When Horn tried to fend the tiger off with his microphone, the tiger lunged and bit him on the left side of the neck, causing profuse blood loss, they said.

Horn was conscious when he was rushed to University Medical Center and underwent about two hours of surgery.

Spectators during the show were horrified by the scene.

"There were a couple of gasps, and people thought it was part of the act, and then it was real quiet".

"The white tiger "Montecore" literally drug him by his neck off the stage like a rag doll". The show has been canceled indefinitely and the tiger is being quarantined.

Horn's partner, 64-year-old Siegfried Fischbacher, spent most of the night at the hospital. "He is shocked and devastated".

"The last place Roy would place blame would be with the animal," said Bernie Yuman, manager for "Siegfried and Roy."

Although Horn had told the crowd it was the tiger's first performance, the animal has been performing for years. There have never been any attacks in the more than 5,000 shows the two men have performed at the hotel since 1990, he said.

White tigers and lions are a trademark of the German-born illusionists, who have been putting on one of the most famous shows in Las Vegas for more than 30 years.

Horn, born in Nordenham, Germany, and Siegfried, of Rosenheim, Germany, have performed at shows around the world since meeting in 1959.

When he was 7, Horn's "beloved pet Hexe" saved his life.

Entertainers and crew members on the "Siegfried and Roy" show have been warned to consider their career options.

Roy has shown some "limited communication" but remains in a critical but stable condition. Our prayers are with Roy.
