Manson terrified me, before they knew who he was, after seeing the news about the killings. I also was scared of Bonnie and Clyde shooting me.

Funny how time has a different sense of relevance when you're a kid. When I was 5 or 6, I was scared of John Wilkes Booth. I thought he was going to come and get me.

Great job Bob; every one of them a memory!
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about? Smile

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Thanks, Bob. The music of the 60s is hard to beat. I find it interesting, that although we think of the 60s as the quintessentially anti-establishment decade, that the #1 songs in 1966 and 1967 both celebrated traditional authority figures. (Somewhat non-traditional in 1967, perhaps, but still a respectful admiration of a teacher.)

There was another great song about admiring a teacher that was released in 1984, but it didn't reach #1.

True. It's also interesting that in the following year, 1968, the top song (also ranked as the top song of the entire decade) was the Beatles' "Hey Jude."

The times they were a changin'.

. But you hung in there like a trooper, and 1968 brought the Hendrix cover of All Along the Watchtower.

Yes. There was that. But the whole decade was summarized for me in 1970 with this:

CCR has come back recently as Credence Clearwater Revisited, minus John Fogerty. Too bad there's such bad blood between the Fogerty brothers, they made some great music. I saw John perform his Blue Moon Swamp at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island and he's still great. That's one great album. Haven't seen the new CCR perform, but it can't be good without John.
