Not sure which one you are referring to, but John Kennedy used to sell an item that will do this called "coin clink." It was particularly nice because you could put it in non-clink mode or clink mode very easily, and used real coins so the sound was correct.

Would I be right in saying that they are called "Downs sound gimmicks"? I think it was David Roth that added the "on/off" switch. Jay Sankey's "Sound for thought" effect uses these but I had never seen them before. David Roth used some for "The tuning Fork" too.

Yes, Coin Clink is the item. Very nice, but now discontinued. I guess maybe sales weren't as expected. I liked this, though.

You might want to try to contact Joe Givan. He's been demoing & selling one at his lectures.

Joe Givan sells the Dave Neighbors one which is called U.R.G.E (ultimate rattle gimmick in existance). You put your own coins in it, and it can be switched off.

Of course, like a click pass, if you're working somewhere noisy no-one can hear it anyway.

The on/off switch that Roth had was a ball under the gimmick and it was very hard to turn off after you turned it on! But yes, he was the first! It was first used in his tuning fork routine!

My lock is a ball that goes on top of the gimmick and over the sides. So it is easy to turn it off and on by just pushing up the sleeves.

One year I was at 4F [Fechter's Finger Flinging Frolic]in a very noisy bar, so I just shook my hand without turning the gimmick on, and everyone was killed when the coins vanished, because they thought they would have heard the coins if it was not so noisy . ( That is the meeting on the 2nd floor and the bar was on the 1st.)So I guess that's what to do it a noisy bar!

I would also add that the gimmick that Dave is putting out is much better than Joe Givans. Joes' is made of aluminum, which does not give off a sound that resembles coins. Dave's is made out of brass.
