I am looking at buying the appearing table a few magic shops sell. I would like to hear everybodys thoughts and comments about the table. The table stand looks like a sheet music stand with a table top. Would like to know how the table top attaches to the stand? Any help would be great. Thanks

There are many different types of Appearing Tables on the market, if it the one I am thinking of, a copy of the Russ Walsh Appearing Table, it is good for placing a small items temporarily on, say like a hat, silks, envelopes, or a deck of cards. It will fall over easily if you do not place it on a solid surface like linoleum flooring and settle the table before placing anything on it. If placing on carpeting, then settle or adjust before placing on the carpet and all should be fine.
I use it for my Houlette while performing the rising cards. The top is attached permanently to the inner workings, meaning you cannot remove it without it falling apart. The gimmick will need replacement after a few months. I suggest you contact Abbott Magic for replacement item as they are the only supplier I have ever found that keeps a supply in stock. then it will last years before needing replacing again. As for Appearing, it is simply folded up and stuck in your pocket, I pull it out of my Pilot/Salesman Case, not very magical but gets a chuckle. If you want to do a magical production, then you will need at least a 36 inch foulard to produce it from behind. Or let your creative juices flow and come up with a winning method for producing it. |

I have an appearing table but it was the $45 one which can only hold very light objects (cards, sponge balls, etc.) there are better ones out there which are more expensive such as the mikame version. I got mine in this shop in Maryland, I forgot the name of it though.
