Mike - Are you still seeing site rankings for exact match domain names with thin content given the latest Penguin update?

Amakar,
if you have bad backlinks from spammy sites and spammy content YEP... they get nailed

but if you have almost no backlinks and are using it for a landing page from google places with a BUNCH of citations they rank like gold..

Penguin didn't touch places...

and penguin is a lame update... the spammers now can do negative SEO on people, and to keep doing the same spam junk they have always done they just add junk phrases into the spin text of anchor phrases...

the content is thin in that there isn't MUCH there but I do end up with about 450 words and it is obviously a lead gen site...
so a manual review (and google is becoming more and more dependent on them which is not a good idea) with a manual review it is labeled as not spam due to its a actual offer for a local service for local search phrases related to that service.

it can lose ranking from penguin but only 3 of the ones I have up have (about 72 for myself and clients)

penguin is more about the spammy back links from what the testing is showing (basicly is your back link anchor text is above 20% for any specific keyword we saw a drop for all rankings which was about 7 sites on the server)
its ok.. balloon dogs don't bite

"Position Marketing" has to begin in YOUR MIND>

In other words....if you don't think you can be position yourself into the number ONE, TWO or THIRD position within a particular market...then you are not going to be able to be successful. So be honest with yourself....know your strengths and talent....figure out your competition....not just other magicians...but other forms of entertainment which others may think off instead of you.

If YOU think you can provide them the quality entertainment they are looking for, that is the first step...then next you have the challenge to get people to think of you first when they want to hire entertainment...before any other magician or another form of entertainment for that audience. So your biggest battle is getting past all the doubts and fears of marketing yourself...believing in your ability to deliver.

You may find yourself in one of several groups of magicians....the "Want to BEs" who desire to become a working magician...then there are the "Ego Maniacs" who think they are the world greatest, they tell everyone and often get people believe them...at least for the first booking but not the next....then there are the "True Entertainers" who have talent, know how to entertain an audience but they may or may NOT know how to market themselves. If you know how to Position yourselves into your markets then you can be a working magician and you will continue to get more work as you build upon your reputation.

Getting past that MENTAL block in your mind is your first step.....
So.....How do you do that?
