People call me with all kinds of questions ... maybe you can help answer this one.
Woman calls me about a friend who will be getting a tattoo. Friend worked carnivals on the West Coast many years ago. She vaguely remembers a design many people wore to express the idea "Carny Power", including three tools, but she can't remember the design and she can't remember which 3 toold (a hammer and...?) I used to have a "Carny Power" patch in my inventory, and I now have a "Carny Power" T-shirt in my Zazzle store, but neither design draws much from tradition. Best I could find in my files was a round logo with a hammer and a wrench, crossed, and am outline of a Ferris wheel. Can anyone remember seeing somewhat more standardized "Carny Power" designs? Can you describe them? She's looking to do this soon-ish, but hesitant to do the "wrong" thing. Thanks! |

I see a lot of R keys...

If you are gonna get a tattoo, and have to ask around for what the proper symbol is for what you want it to represent...you probably shouldn't get that tattoo. If you don't know what it is off the top of your head, you probably shouldn't get it permanently marked on your body.

I Book with 7 or more Carnivals a year and "Carny Power" is no where to be found...Regardless, Bubbles has the best advice...

Bubbles has a very good point....BUT if you really NEED a tattoo to show your love of carnival life an "R key " tattoo is just as good.

A "carny" tattoo seems like a bad idea.
It won't impress real show people and it might just get you run out of town. |

It's nice to have goals in life, fortunately, mine don't involve tattoos.

Mine involve girls with tattoos. But now that I'm 63, that's either VERY unlikely, or else I'd see girls with tattoos that sag way down to the ground.

The traditional "Carny Power" logo was a crossed hammer and monkey wrench behind a green dollar sign. No wheel.
One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.

My question is...The last Town Job I had was when I was 16 at King Kahler's Chicken Emporium...How come Years later I have no sentimental feelings and have no desire to get a Chicken Leg tattooed on my Forehead?...just curious...

I have two chicken tattoos. One is of a rooster hanging by a noose on my calf (old bar bet. Cock hangs lower than my knee) and one of a hand choking a chicken (thats just for laughs). But yeah, if you have to do research on a symbol that "means something" to you, maybe give it a miss.
